Job Summary
A fast-paced immigration practice seeks a full-time remote bilingual (English/Spanish) immigration paralegal experienced in removal defense (asylum, cancellation of removal, withholding of removal) and/or experienced with humanitarian and victim-cased applications, such as U-Visa, T-Visa, VAWA, and the like.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assembling immigration application forms along with required evidence via Adobe.
- Meet with clients (via phone and video) to gather case information and prepare documents.
- Draft legal documents and affidavits.
- Manage a voluminous caseload for clients and meet priorities set by case manager.
- Update practice management software with all client information and case progress.
- Translation of documents from Spanish to English.
- Interpret for appointments from Spanish to English and English to Spanish.
Qualifications and Skills
- Fluency in both English and Spanish (conversing, reading, and writing).
- Undergraduate degree or paralegal certificate or equivalent experience preferred but not required.
- 2 years of legal experience strongly preferred. Less than two years will be considered if the applicant has robust immigration experience and strong writing skills.
- Solid work history.
- Have a passion to help underserved populations and to help people from all walks of life.
- Strong interest in an immigration-based practice.
- Microsoft Word and Excel: Intermediate/Advanced proficiency.
- Adobe PDF experience preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and customer service.
- Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt easily to changing circumstances.
