The Department of Human Resources is the campus resource center for providing professional services and information in the areas of employment, benefits, compensation and classification, training and development, payroll, employee relations, policy, administration and human resources data management and reporting.



Position Overview:

The Human Resources Associate I performs specialized administrative clerical duties in support of essential departmental functions. The Human Resources Associate I is the first point of contact for the department and provides customer services to the public and the campus community.

Responsibilities:

The Human Resources Associate I is key team member in the Department of Human Resources. The incumbent provides coverage for the Human Resources front desk and is the first point of contact for customer service in the department.

Specific duties include:

  • Greeting visitors, answering and directing phone calls; answering general HR inquiries
  • Providing support to departmental staff for administrative tasks and special projects
  • Serve as HR website liaison
  • Coordinating departmental equipment inventory, supply inventory, service requests and departmental events
  • Assisting federal investigators with employment verifications and preparing employment verification letters for active employees
  • Monitoring degree verifications to include tracking, sending reminders and resolving discrepancies
  • Monitoring probation status for nonexempt employees by tracking deadlines, sending reminders, initiating DocuSign process and answering questions
  • Providing support to the Executive Administrative Assistant and serving as primary back up with tasks and projects, including but not limited to onboarding new employees and offboarding of active employees; scheduling meetings; processing time entry/payroll transactions; providing calendar management and performing general administrative tasks for the Chief Human Resources Officer
  • Sorting and distributing paychecks for the campus.

Work schedule is 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday



Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years clerical experience, one year of which must have involved the application of human resources policies and procedures or related area.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel

Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
