House Supervisor is under the direction of the VP Patient Care Services/CNO, the supervisor is responsible and accountable for coordinating and organizing personnel and other resources to meet the patient care functions of the organization in a cost-effective manner. The supervisor collaborates to provide crisis management, interpret policy and procedure, and assure timely and effective communication and collaboration between individuals and departments. The supervisor represents the organizational leadership throughout the health system on a 24 hour basis and collaborates to make decisions and act on behalf of the Patient Care Services leadership team. The Supervisor of House Supervisors oversees those who perform the duties of the house supervisor including conducting meetings, completing job performance appraisals and managing the daily schedule of house supervisors.

Responsibilities:

  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization
  • Develops and maintains services in accordance with regulatory, quality, and practice standards
  • Interprets and administers departmental policies
  • Assures the daily personnel, equipment, supplies, and technology resources necessary for the provision of safe, high quality patient and family-centered care
  • Assures the continuous and timely availability of urgent care, emergency, inpatient, and operative services to patients and families
  • Continuously monitors daily operations integrating data from electronic systems, personal communication, and physical unit rounds to assure patient care effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction
  • Coordinates the routine flow of scheduled, direct, and emergency patient admissions to efficiently place patient in the appropriate care location, maximize capacity, and improve satisfaction of patients, families, and referring providers
  • Coordinates the organizational response during times of high census: collaborating with administration and nursing leaders, Emergency Department, Surgery Department, and inpatient nursing units.
  • Responsible to provide resources for clinical and support staff in decision making that facilitates high quality patient care
  • Provides leadership for effective communication and collaboration between disparate stakeholders to achieve the common goal of safe, high quality patient care
  • Assists in the coordination of the response to significant, planned or unplanned event that threaten the institution's people, structures, ability to operate, assets and/or reputation.
  • Provides education, guidance, and assistance with unfamiliar procedures and policies; while assisting staff to identify resources for information and assistance
  • Communicates effectively at all levels, role modeling a professional approach with all situation and individuals, even when faced with disagreement or conflict
  • Promotes a positive work environment by building trust and strengthening relationships with staff within and between units
  • Supports and directs staff to safely manage patient care through planned and unplanned electronic, facilities, and other system downtimes.
  • Coordinates transfers to the facility and assists with transfer from the facility as needed
  • Evaluates performance of supervisors; coaches, counsels and disciplines within accordance of Human Resources policies
  • Represents house supervisors at and participates in meetings as assigned
  • Assists in documentation, response, and investigation of team member injuries.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Associate or Baccalaureate(preferred) Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA).

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Current unencumbered RN license in the State of Oklahoma or Multistate Licensure in a Party state in compliance with primary residency rules and requirements. A nationally recognized national certification in Nursing Administration or appropriate specialty is preferred.

  • Safety-Sensitive Position

**This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals.
