Job Duties

Responsibility / Duty
Maintains landscaped areas by weeding landscape beds and pruning shrubs and trees using both hand-held and gas powered trimmers and/or pruners. Participates in the installation and transplanting of trees and shrubs in landscaped areas. Prepares ground by tilling an adding soil amendments for planting preparation. Performs any related duties for the necessary growth and appearance of trees, plants and vegetation on campus.

Minimum Experience Required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of experience in any of the following: farming, the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs, or groundskeeping.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience provided that six semester hours of each thirty is in any of the following fields: botany, agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, agronomy, forestry, turf management, landscape management or landscape architecture.

Vocational training in the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs will substitute for the required experience on a month for month basis.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Commission of Higher Education; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
