Statement of Purpose
: The position is responsible for community networking, development, and planning; grant writing and management; grassroots program development and sustainability; operations implementation; as well as personnel, office, and mobile unity management for HIV prevention and care continuum programs.

Essential Functions: HIV Prevention & Education Manager

  • Implementation of CAN standard and pilot HIV/STI prevention and care continuum program.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and/or family in accordance with professional standards.
  • Analyzes federal, state, and local epidemiological data and utilizes in day-to-day practices and planning.
  • Experience working with priority populations, such as injection drug user(s) i.e., IDU as well as African American, Hispanic, Native American and LGBTQ identifying individuals, as well as program planning in culturally sensitive manners(s).
  • Collaborates with clinical and contract clinic team members.
  • Ensures and plans confidential and anonymous testing to the community in accordance with grant goals, as well as priority population and geographical needs.
  • Processes documentation required by state and local funding sources as required for public and private grants, including invoices and programmatic reports.
  • Works as liaison between CAN, state and local organizations involved in community planning and development forums.
  • Monitors the recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers to assist with anonymous testing and HIV education.
  • Trains HIV/STI education to staff and volunteers as part of the orientation process and as needed.
  • Develops and implements goals and objectives relative to prevention, education, and other care continuum programs.
  • Develops and fosters networking relationships with community and support resources.
  • Hires and supervises employees, assigns, and schedules work, monitors work performance, handles personnel operations including performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, dismissals, PTO and preparing timesheets.
  • Resolves problems and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Plan and manages HIV prevention events and outreach, including calendaring, processes, and protocols.
  • Retains supply of contraceptives, brochures, and other materials necessary for prevention activities.
  • Promotes and practices CAN Community Health, Inc.'s values and mission and adheres to all policies and procedures.
  • Manages day-to-day office operations, including client flow, facility upkeep and inventory, mobile units’ upkeep and inventory, compliance procedures and vendor relationships.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as needed.

20. Ability to travel amounts of time both local and statewide, as well as occasionally out of state.

21. Ability to establish programs in a fast-paced grassroots environment.

22. Willingness and ability to drive a testing sprinter unit.

23. Work collaboratively with local and corporate staff in conjunction with key external stakeholders.

Secondary Tasks: HIV Prevention & Education Manager

  • Practice’s safety, environmental and/or infection control methods.
  • Continues professional training and education to advance knowledge and skills of HIV/AIDS.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement of services rendered to CAN clients.
  • Utilizes resources and supplies in a cost-effective manner.
  • Demonstrates courtesy respect in all interpersonal relationships with CAN clients, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintains professional manner in all aspects of job tasks.
Requirements:

Education/Professional: HIV Prevention & Education Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in an accredited school or equivalent experience in social and healthcare services.
  • HIV/STE programming experience
  • Personnel and program management experience.

Education/Professional Experience Preferred: HIV Prevention & Education Manager

  • Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Diffused Behavioral Interventions (DEBIs) trained and qualified including SNS, CLEAR, etc.
  • Rapid start protocol background experience.

Work Environment: HIV Prevention & Education Manager

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, audio visual, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requirements: HIV Prevention & Education Manager

  • Neat, professional appearance.
  • Sedentary- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly in lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: HIV Prevention & Education Manager

  • This position may require additional time above normal operating hours and on occasion weekend work.

Travel: HIV Prevention & Education Manager

Travel is primary during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license.
