Heavy Equipment Operator

Primary Responsibilities

• Load major shipments safely and efficiently, using equipment deemed to be optimal for the task (varies).
• Work closely with heavy haul transportation providers to ensure secure shipments.
• Work closely with shipping to provide accurate shipping details for each shipment.
• Work in conjunction with crane subcontractors to ensure safe, secure, and timely utilization of their services.
• Operate a range of heavy equipment, including various forklifts up to 60,000 lb. capacity, and mobile crane devices.
• Ensure OSHA and company safety procedures are communicated and encouraged.
• Determine the optimal equipment for the task, which is especially critical with the dimensions and weights encountered in AZZ products..
• Assist plant operations as necessary with major on site logistic needs such as moving large pieces of fabricated metal product around the plant and yard.
• Assist receiving in unloads of large inbound shipments.
• Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
• Keep materials and work area clean, organized and free from clutter, or any potential safety hazards.
• Ensure all materials and equipment are organized, used and stored properly.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skill / Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least three (3) years of experience operating heavy equipment.
• Must be able to climb in and out of equipment unassisted.
• Ability to have a flexible work schedule, including working overtime and weekends as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Places products in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing, inspecting, or wrapping.
• Loads and unloads items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
• Cares for machines, adds coolant to reservoirs of machines, and lubricates machine parts.
• Helps start machines or equipment to begin production processes.
• Helps production workers by performing duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding materials or tools, or cleaning work areas and equipment.

Physical Demands

Majority of the time is spent standing, walking, stooping, reaching, and bending. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. Must have good eye hand coordination.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, second shift 1:30 - 9:30 PM, occasional Saturday shift.
