DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Gaming Inspector is required to insure all reports, patron disputes, Gaming Compact violations, etc., are handled in a professional manner and that proper reporting systems are followed and used on each shift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitor casino floor, observing customers and employees to ensure compliance with Arizona Gaming

Regulations, Gaming Commission Regulations, and Casino management practices, policies and procedures.

  • Write incident reports of any violations; monitors customer and employees to ensure no cheating or illegal gaming devices are allowed; counsel and/or write up employees for procedural violations.
  • Monitor surveillance activities to ensure compliance with established policies/procedures; conduct preliminary investigations of patron disputes, possible violations of policy/procedure, and/or violation of

Gaming Compact provisions.

  • Verify jackpots, assist patrons, and answer general questions regarding gaming regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Escort State Gaming Agency personnel when inspections occur.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

  • Knowledge of Gaming Industry Regulations and organizational operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of constitutional right and protection afforded individuals involved in investigations.
  • Skill in written and oral communication necessary for documentation, reporting incidents, explanation of practices, policies and procedures to upper management, customer, employees and regulatory agencies.
  • Skill in applying customer service/public relations in responding to customer and employee inquiries and/or complaints.
  • Good investigative report writing is necessary and is a significant part of the Inspector’s job duties.
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply the regulations governing the rules and conduct to authorize games,

Gaming equipment and devices, negotiable transaction involving the Casino.

  • Ability to learn and apply provisions of the Gaming Compact and other regulations.
  • Ability to work in a smoking environment; work environment consistent with a Gaming Casino in which the noise level can be loud to very loud.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community officials and the public.
  • Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years’ experience in law enforcement, federal or state regulated governmental service department, agency, or organization which included performing regulatory type inspections and investigations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:

All Gaming Commission employees must be State certified (includes a full background check) as a requirement of the Gaming Compact and Tribally licensed as a condition of employment. [State certification and Tribal

Gaming License are to be renewed on an annual basis.]
