Financial Analyst / Senior (Regulatory) Job at American Electric Power
Indiana Michigan Power Company is seeking a self-motivated individual to join a team using their business, engineering, or accounting analytical skills to help solve real world business problems and support the Company’s generation transformation strategy. This professional position is part of a dynamic team that will help set utility electricity rates and meet regulatory requirements, as well as help develop new innovative customer programs. As a remote employee, occasional travel to Fort Wayne, IN is required. Must possess the ability to communicate and coordinate work across multiple organizations to evaluate complex problems and perform analysis to accomplish financial and operational goals.

Familiarity with state or federal regulations and standards, codes, concepts, systems, docket research and business processes relevant to work assignments would be ideal, but not required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed below:
- Support the development, implementation, and interpretation of the contracts (tariffs) that are established or generated for the sale of electricity to residents and businesses of Indiana Michigan Power Company.
- As part of a team, assist in the development of direct and rebuttal testimony, responding to discovery requests, responding to audits, and witness preparation.
- Assist in developing various financial analyses used in support of utility operations, including the development of customer rates and charges.
- Interpret regulatory needs and implement projects, analysis, and process work by establishing measurable goals, objectives, and requirements relative to a specific area of responsibility; address company system-wide issues within specialized field of expertise; and review planned work of others.
- Possess the ability to work independently, as needed, to prepare and present regulatory subjects and strategies in a clear, concise and effective manner to management and/or regulatory bodies.
- Participate and/or lead in the use and development of moderately complex analytical tools to support the Company’s goals and objectives. Utilize analytical tools and data management skills to provide actionable recommendations for regulatory planning and filings.
- Consult with others to understand, identify, prioritize and develop actionable recommendations supporting the Company’s business goals and objectives. Develop and utilize network channels within the Company, other industry related companies, professional organizations, and regulatory agencies concerning electric utility matters.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND 4 years relative field, operations or analytical experience OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND 8 years relative field, operations or analytical experience OR High School diploma or GED AND 10 years relative field, operations or analytical experience.
- 4 years of related work experience in a utility and/or like business and/or regulatory function, in addition to any experience required to meet educational requirements.
- 1 years of related work experience in a utility and/or like business and/or regulatory function, in addition to any experience required to meet educational requirements.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Professional Engineer, or similar certification/licensure is preferred.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets is required.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate strategy and provide guidance to management and witnesses on case, are required.
- Must possess analytical problem-solving skills.
- Required to work mandatory ”on-call” requirements over weekends, holidays, vacations, etc. as necessary to meet regulatory requirements, including filing dates required by the Company or as imposed by an applicable regulatory Commission.
- Occasional travel will be required, such as: to attend or testify at hearings, to support witnesses at hearings, to participate in Commission Staff and/or stakeholder meetings/events, to advocate the Company’s position in various federal, regional, or state venues, to attend training, etc.
