PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate gas or electric lift in and between production departments, buildings, and shipping/receiving and storage areas.
- Move materials between areas; following routing and work orders.
- Transport a variety of raw materials, supplies, and in-process/finished products.
- Keep designated work areas supplied with materials.
- Stack materials safely in designated staging/storage areas.
- Store, stack and arrange for possible first in first out use.
- Use work orders and drawings to pull/move items from storage areas & deliver to designated area.
- May operate crane or hoist in unloading and storing materials.
- Prepare daily forklift inspections.
- Responsible for supply cage area – all aspects.
Skills/Job Requirements
- Must be able to read work orders and drawings.
- Physical ability to repeatedly, bend, squat, push, pull, grasp, reach, climb, see and hear. Must be able to stand on concrete floor for 10 or more hours at time and work in an industrial environment with exposure to dust, fumes and solvents.
- Positive, motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and/or in a cross-functional work team environment in cooperation with other employee and management to meet the demands of our customers.
- Strong sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to operate forklift.
- Must keep work area neat and clean.
- Overtime may be required. Sometimes with short notice provided.
- Help train and assist new operators.
- Must have understanding of how to perform job safely.
- Must wear & maintain proper PPE.
- Assist with any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Educational Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Computer Requirements: Prefer experience in MRP/ERP operating system & the willingness to learn other software programs as needed. Experience in Global Shop Solutions is a plus.
Experience Needed: Experience in manufacturing environment and prior forklift experience helpful.
