The intent of this listing is to give a general indication of the level of difficulty and responsibility of this position. It requires planning, organization, and coordination to fulfill the various specific responsibilities. Assist or carries out a wide variety of business office and departmental mission functions. Provide emergency medical treatment to sick and injured persons as required or assigned. This position reports to the Emergency Medical Services Director.

Job Summary
Under limited supervision, this position will plan/direct/conduct the Continuing Education
Program (CEP) for Darlington County Emergency Medical Services. The position will ensure that
EMS staff are maintaining certifications, licenses, accreditations as required by the department and are performing required patient care benchmark skills. The position will maintain appropriate records and reports for the CEP program and the individual EMS staff members as required by the department. Must understand federal, state, and local laws, mandates, rules,
NREMT requirements/processes and regulations related to Emergency Medical Services. The position will be required, as part of the departmental management team, to ensure departmental compliance with Darlington County Emergency Medical Services policies, protocols, Darlington
County government policies and regulations as well as SC DHEC rules and regulations. The position will provide emergency medical treatment to sick and injured patients as required or assigned. The position will perform other job duties as assigned. This position reports to the
Emergency Medical Services Director.

Qualifications

1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and certification as an Emergency Medical
Technician. NREMT and South Carolina Paramedic certification is required. AA/AS, BS/BA preferred.

2. Must have at least 2 years’ experience as a NREMT Paramedic, 5 years preferred.
3. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
4. Must have an acceptable criminal back‐ground check and drug screening.
5. Must possess or obtain within one (1) calendar year from the date of hire a South Carolina

DHEC CEP Instructor Certification.
6. Preferred candidates will possess a South Carolina DHEC EMT Basic Instructor

Certification.
7. Basic computer skills required including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
8. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
9. Preferred candidates will possess credentials in any of the following disciplines: AHA ‐

Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support,
NAEMT – Advanced Medical Life Support, Emergency Pediatric Care, Pre‐Hospital Trauma
Life Support, American Academy of Pediatrics – Pediatric Education for Pre‐hospital
Providers.

Requirements
1. Must be physically able to operate different types of emergency response vehicles as well as a variety of complex medical and other machines and equipment including oxygen equipment, IV pumps, suction units, automated chest compression devices, blood pressure cuff, extrication equipment, two‐way radio, etc.

2. Can provide clear communications both written and oral.
3. Can prepare various documents and reports, written and electronic.
4. Can plan/direct/conduct various task or program areas within the emergency medical services department.

Salary
DOQ, State Benefits, SC Retirement, Vacation, paid Holidays and Sick Leave Benefits. After completion of an introductory period, you are eligible for a 2.5% incentive bonus in November as approved by County Council.
