This pivotal role will involve partnering directly with BIG’s leadership and the L Catterton team to drive long-term strategic direction, including evaluating new opportunity areas, identifying and analyzing potential partnerships, sourcing M&A opportunities, and executing acquisitions. You will develop informed positions on big questions that drive the value and long-term competitive advantage of BIG’s business. The non-ethnic hair extension category is growing rapidly but still with minimal consumer and stylist penetration today, implying significant white space – we are focused on bringing the right people to the team to help assess the various growth opportunities available, and tackle long-term strategic questions. There are also significant opportunities in adjacent beauty categories that are critical to shaping BIG into the leading global beauty brand in the next 3-5 years, and the Director of Acquisitions and Partnerships will play a critical role in evaluating which beauty categories to enter, when, and how.

The Role Will Involve:

  • Leading all aspects of the deal process, including sourcing, developing relationships, lead qualification, initial rationale/pitch, financial modeling, due diligence, closing & integration activities
  • Developing meaningful and trusting relationships with entrepreneurs across numerous beauty and personal care companies, and expanding the general BIG network
  • Helping BIG decide where to deploy its resources to maximize long-term strategic value, including entering new adjacent categories
  • Tackling hard, ambiguous questions with rigor and independence, owning projects from problem definition to final recommendation
  • Clearly defining the opportunity and risk of current and future product, customer, and geographic footprint, helping us to spot trends with impact on BIG’s overall strategy
  • Working with BIG’s leadership team to ensure the company is positioned to execute on its strategy in the near- and long-term
  • Helping individual brands and functions tackling opportunities across several business vectors

Requirements:
  • Strong academic performance in undergraduate and/or graduate studies
  • Significant experience in modeling and evaluating deals and deal structures with at least mid-tier investment banking or private equity firm
  • Ability to autonomously lead due diligence and deal execution efforts
  • Comfortable interacting with C-level executives, private equity MDs, and outside investment banking professionals
  • 3 – 5 or more years of professional experience, with a preference for strategy consulting or investment banking
  • Consumer or beauty products experience is not essential
