Position Summary:

The Crew Services Director provides leadership and support to the Crew Scheduling, Crew Recovery, Crew Staffing, Crew Planning, Crew Pay, Crew Business Solutions, and Crew Accommodation teams within Crew Services to enable them in turn to provide the best possible service to our Flight and Inflight Crewmembers while maximizing the utilization of our Crew resources in the most effective and efficient manner. The Director ensures that all scheduling is handled in compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration rules for flight and duty limitations, rest requirements as well as the Flight and Inflight Scheduling Manuals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the proper maintenance of the Flight and Inflight Crewmembers’ master work schedules and record keeping requirements in compliance with the various Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Interact with Marketing in analyzing current and advanced schedules
  • Assist in the development of the annual financial budget for the Crew Services Department
  • Maintain awareness of best industry practices regarding new technological developments for the continual improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of crew resource management processes
  • Coordinate cross-departmental communications, primarily with the Flight leadership team, the Inflight leadership team, and the System Operations leadership team
  • Establish and maintain a caring rapport and open dialog with the Flight and Inflight Scheduling Committee members to quickly address new issues and to work with those committee members as one team to continually consider improvements to the crew scheduling processes and procedures
  • Provide strong leadership in the daily operation during irregular operations for the development and expeditious handling of the operational recovery plan
  • Liaise with the various business partners who provide software applications support to Crew Services
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, goal achievement by establishing clear performance expectations and accountability for Crewmembers
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in Crew Resource Management including Crew Scheduling, Crew Planning, Manpower Planning, Crew Coordination and Crew Pay
  • Thorough understanding of the Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to scheduled domestic and international air carrier operations, specifically Parts 117 and 121, Subpart P, plus Part 91
  • Five (5) years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrating solid business acumen by managing a budget
  • Available for frequent overnight travel (10%)
    • Able to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response and on short notice
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Positive upbeat attitude, even during stressful situations such as irregular flight operations
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to facilitate in depth problem solving and logical solution development with a sharp eye for detail
  • Exceptional writing skills coupled with effective communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to manage multiple projects at once, while working in an ambiguous, fast paced environment
  • Role model for teamwork with the ability to share your knowledge with your team along with strong interpersonal skills required to liaise with other departments, outside agencies, business partners and other airlines
    • Able to pass a pre-employment drug test
    • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
    • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship


Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation or related field

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) and Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $155,000 and $175,000 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
