Offering more than 100 certificate, associate and bachelor’s degree programs, Daytona State College (DSC) has responded to the education and workforce training needs in our region for more than 60 years. The college enrolls nearly 25,000 students annually at its seven instructional sites, with graduates serving in critical fields including health care, emergency services, business, education, hospitality, engineering, technology and more.


We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a Coordinator II. The Coordinator II will set the direction for introducing students to cutting edge technology that qualifies them for competitive opportunities in the skilled trades.


Required Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor’s degree.


Desired Qualifications: Work or lab experience in a skilled trade such as welding or machining and /or virtual reality lab.


The salary is $41,000.00


Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. A varying schedule may be required to attend outreach activities. Required travel to all College campus locations throughout Volusia and Flagler Counties.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Manages the day-to-day operations of all Virtual lab spaces. Responsible for training, managing the lab, maintaining lab upkeep, controlling inventory, monitoring safety and maintenance, and related budgeting.
  • Provides guided instruction that supports faculty and students.
  • Develops and implements an outreach plan that showcases welding and machining in the Virtual Reality space and conducts tours, showcases and recruitment activities.
  • Works with the Director of the School of Workforce and Marketing to develop and market programs and events.
  • Develops and implements a plan for k-12 engagement. Generates weekly activity reports.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining the VR lab spaces that support workforce programs particularly in machining and welding. The Coordinator II is responsible for the day-today management and oversight of the VR lab located on the New Smyrna Beach Campus and other lab locations on the various regional campuses. This position will be responsible for working with Marketing and the Director of the School of Workforce to communicate updates and program schedules. This position will facilitate lab-based VR demonstrations, showcases, and provide guided instruction that supports faculty and student use of newer technologies. The successful candidate will provide leadership, direction, and oversight of key responsibilities. This position requires excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to build relationships as well as organization.
