SUMMARY: Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Workers’ Compensation program, covering all sites/campuses within the system.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

Administers organization’s workers’ compensation program; acts as central point of contact for third party vendors, managers, providers and employees for workers’ compensation issues and inquiries.

1. Administers ergonomic program; arranges on-site ergonomic assessments; facilitates, when requested, ergonomic equipment requests and invoicing.

2. Administers the workers’ compensation claim lifecycle; such as creates, monitors and follows up on changes in employee status, including the maintenance of case documentation and maintaining contact with employee as needed making determination on employee’s eligibility to return to work (full/modified duty etc.).

3. Meets regularly with leadership to provide status updates and next steps re employee progress.

4. Coordinates with department timekeepers and Payroll in the payment of benefits to qualified employees.

5. Prepares reports and provides analysis etc., to “high utilization” departments.

6. Visits campuses, makes rounds, assessing for safety issues and works to mitigate workplace injuries through various training and education.

7. Focuses on reduction of Lost Days by returning employee to modified duty as soon as possible following an industrial injury.

8. Attends and participates in various committees, including Environment of Care, workers compensation claim reviews etc.

9. Provide initial training and continuous guidance to leadership, on Workers’ Compensation process.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree.

Required Experience: Three years experience in one of the following fields: workers’ compensation, leave management, insurance/risk management, human resources management, public administration, occupational health or a related field

Preferred Experience: Experience within a union environment.
