Community Respite Assistant House Manager
Ädelbrook Community Services, Inc. provides respite care to persons with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual and/or other Developmental Disability, as we as complex behavioral health needs. Respite is the temporary care of a person for the purpose of offering relief to the family or caregiver. Support varies and is determined by the needs of the individual and their family in conjunction with the Ädelbrook team and stakeholders.
Job Summary :
The Community Respite Assistant House Manager supports the Community Respite Manager and the Community Respite Counselors, by providing operational program management, adherence to the Individualized Emergency Intervention or Crisis Plans, monitoring/reporting, and assigned management tasks including direct care supervision. They provide oversight to the Community Respite Counselors to maintain the safety and support of individuals during 24-hour weekend respite care in a comfortable home-like environment while ensuring that they participate in a variety of activities while in out-of-home respite care.
The Community Respite Assistant House Manager will supervision and management of Community Respite Care Programming in all areas of individual services, family services, and staff training in collaboration with the Community Respite House Manager. The Community Respite Assistant House Manager is responsible for evaluation, progressive instruction and/or development of CRC (Community Respite Counselor) staff assigned to the Community Respite Care site. This is an in-the-count position which may involve physical intervention through protective hold, utilizing Physical/Psychological Management Training (PMT) in accordance with CT state regulations as well as agency procedure. This is a full-time, 12-month position requiring a flexible schedule dependent upon the needs of the program and department which includes early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays. The Community Respite Assistant House Manager will be on call. This position reports directly to the Community Respite House Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The Community Respite Assistant House Manager is responsible for staffing of all shifts, including managing time off requests and call-outs.
  • Develop and carryout in-home program activities that foster individual growth and development of each person served.
  • Ensure that staff maintain timely, accurate and consistent records at all times.
  • Submit data, attendance records, and reports according to requirements of the program.
  • Ensure electronic data, encounter notes, and incident reports are accurate, entered in a timely manner and are complete.
  • Provide direct on-going supervision to assigned Community Respite Counselors including but not limited to; conducting monthly documented supervision, writing/presenting performance evaluations and interventions, disciplinary action completing on-going training and development focused on improving skills necessary to properly operate within Ädelbrook Respite Care.
  • In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, including the family/guardian of the individual served, assist in overseeing the implementation and follow the Individualized Emergency Intervention or Crisis Plans as well as all house and individual(s) specific required documentation.
  • Assist with ensuring Community Respite individuals receive quality services that comply with standards and regulations of DDS, Council on Accreditation and Ädelbrook.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with funding source(s), DDS Case Managers, Parents/Guardians, co-workers, and stakeholders/constituents.
  • Collaborate with Community Respite program consulting behaviorist(s), and consulting nurse to ensure program services are aligned and staff are adhering to expressed plans/guidelines.
  • Ensure training of all Community Respite Counselors are current and maintained per agency requirements.
  • Adheres to the expressed and/or assigned deliverables and completion.
  • All other duties assigned.
Education, Experience, and other Qualifications:
GED or high school diploma required. Sixty college credits, an attained Associates Degree or bachelor's degree in related field strongly preferred.
Must have at least three (3) years of experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or complex behavioral profiles. Must additionally have at least two (2) years of experience directly supervising employees within a Department of Developmental Services (DDS) or Department of Children and Families (DCF) facility (or similar as determined appropriate by agency administration). A positive attitude, demonstrated good judgment, the ability to develop a professional rapport with individuals we serve, the staff/contractors we employ, and all other stakeholders are requisite. This includes willingness to interact and work daily with individual’s personal care which may include toileting, feeding, cleaning and all other activities of daily living skills (ADLs).
A valid driver’s license and excellent driving record are requisite. Must be willing to learn and successfully carry out functions included within the Individualized Emergency Intervention or Crisis Plans. Must be able to function as a part of a team, to demonstrate flexibility in meeting program and individual needs as they occur.
Must be able to successfully attain and maintain certification in DDS Medication Administration and functionally collaborate with agency medical oversight regarding MedCert Program oversight.
