Lyndon Institute is a comprehensive, independent high school in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Lyndon Institute inspires our students to become accomplished learners, creative thinkers, and compassionate community members.Lyndon Institute is seeking to hire a full time, 11-month employee to work August 1 through June 30 as a College and Career Counselor.Responsibilities: Each College and Career Counselor will be assigned a caseload of students for which they: - work in partnership with advisors, faculty and administration to develop an appropriate Personal Learning Plan that best meets each students needs, while meeting all graduation requirements or establishing an alternative plan to help each student be successful at meeting postsecondary goals.- ensure that each student has a Personal Learning Plan which is tied to a system (such as Naviance) that tracks the students information throughout the career and college prep. process- work closely, and in conjunction with, CTE to ensure that students progress toward their desired career path- monitor students progress at the midpoint and end of each marking period - communicating concerns and commendations to students, families, teachers and faculty.- participate in building additional academic support plans that includes input from the student, parents, teachers, advisors, and other support staff.- assist with test registration and analyze and explain test results with students- create parent/student presentations and informational nights concerning the college application process, financial aid, and employment or military careers- Potential leadership opportunities in the future- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisorRequirements: Qualified candidates will possess a bachelors degree or higher and will have a minimum of three years working in secondary education with direct experience with college and career counseling of both foreign and domestic students. A complex understanding of the college admissions process and experience with Career and Technical Education programs will be important.

Experience with Naviance, PLPs, VSAC, dual enrollment, College Board, and standardized test trends is preferred.
