We are looking for a full-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our top notch team!

Must have experience with hands/upper extremity!

This position would be located at any of our three (3) locations in Montgomery, Woodlands or Spring.

HOURS:

Monday-Friday 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Must be flexible to work different shifts as needed.

JOB SUMMARY:

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will provide occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of the Occupational Therapist and/or Rehabilitation Manager/Director for those who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. COTA's implement selected components of patient interventions and treatments, obtain data related to the treatment provided, and make modifications in selected treatments either to progress the patient as directed by the occupational therapist and to ensure patient safety and comfort.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

· Facilitates, implements, and modifies current occupational therapy treatments.

· Schedule and supervise observations, student training, tours, and volunteers in the occupational therapy department.

· Assists OT's in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities.

· Helps OT’s fulfill patient treatment plan and procedures.

· Records patient responses to treatments and reports outcomes of each treatment to the Occupational Therapist.

· Keeps treatment area clean and organized in preparation for each patient’s therapy.

· Provides education appropriate to each patient’s level of understanding regarding evaluation, treatment, and self-responsibility.

· Instructs in home treatment program to facilitate rehabilitation and promote independence in care as appropriate.

· Collaborates with primary therapist, patient, and other health care professionals in planning discharge from rehabilitation services.

· Clear, concise, and clinically useful documentation in medical record is completed in a timely manner according to department procedures.

· Compliant with HIPAA, OSHA, and company policies and regulations.

· Responds promptly to patient needs and requests.

· Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS

· Associates or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.

· Certified Occupational Therapist Licensure of PT and OT Examiners in the State of Texas.

· CPR certified.

· Knowledge of basic science including biology, chemistry, and physics as well as biomechanics, neuroanatomy, and disease manifestations.

· Excellent customer (patient) service skills.

· Ability to demonstrate compassion and desire to help patients.

· Knowledge of EMR systems, Athena preferred.

Physical Demands

· Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods.

· Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, twist, reach and lift.

· Must be able to transfer patients safely.

· Lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
