Job Description: Certified Nurse Midwife
Reports to: Shareholder Physicians/Administrator
Educational Requirements:
- Graduation from a nurse-midwifery education program accredited by ACNM Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME);
- Verification by program director of completion of education program;
- Active North Carolina registered nurse (RN) license.
Duties include:
- ou are in
- diagnosing, monitoring and examining women during pregnancy; providing counseling and care during pre-conception, pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
- developing, assessing and evaluating individual program of care;
- arranging and providing parenting and health education;
- providing counselling and advice before and after screening and tests;
- offering support and advice following events such as miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality and neonatal death;
- supervising and assisting mothers in labor, monitoring the condition of the baby and using knowledge of drugs and pain management;
- giving support and advice on the daily care of the baby, including breastfeeding, bathing and making up feeds;
- providing family-centered primary healthcare to women throughout their reproductive lives.
- providing routine gynecological services – including reproductive health visits, regular gynecologic care (i.e., annual exams) and peri-/post-menopausal care and preventive care.
- Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting analyses of urine and vaginal fluids.
- Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals who practice in a wide variety of clinical settings, diagnosing and treating patients as well as referring them to a specialist, if required.
- liaising with agencies and other health and social care professionals to ensure continuity of care;
- engaging in professional development to meet credentialing requirements;
The job holder must demonstrate competencies applicable to the job position.
Education: MS/MSN required.
Experience: Prefer minimum of one year full time work experience as a CNM in an ob-gyn outpatient setting.
Requirements: State CNM and RN license. Maintains CPR certification.
Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, regulations and scope of practice.
2. Knowledge of specific nurse midwive tasks.
3. Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
- Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and other applicable state or federal regulations.
- Knowledge of medical ethics and customer service.
Skills:
- Ability to apply and modify the principles, methods, and techniques of midwifery to provide ongoing patient care.
- Ability to take a thorough medical history and assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Ability to perform all tasks accurately, efficiently, and ethically and in compliance with all laws and regulations.
- Uses professionalism and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions with patients, guests, and staff.
- Knowledgeable of patient education needs and effective at sharing information with patients and families.
- Ability to learn, retain, and accurately use information regarding patient care policies and procedures.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks in a highly productive and efficient manner.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
Physical/Mental Demands:
Must be able to use appropriate techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. Must be able to be on feet for long periods of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
