We are seeking an experienced and reliable Assistant Port Captain to join our team. The candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of experience and have a valid USCG master of towing license. The successful candidate must be able to sail and travel to different locations at any time. Candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining our vessels in accordance with regulatory requirements, supporting on the supervision of crew members and the maintenance of all safety protocols. The candidate will also be responsible for budgets, invoice approvals, financial analysis, among other responsibilities. We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills, and commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Candidate must be proficient in English and Spanish. The candidate must report to main office in Cayey, Puerto Rico.

Responsibilities:

· Accessible to sail at all times.

· Assist in implementing standard procedures and guidelines for the operation of a safe and environmentally sound fleet.

· Ensure all vessel personnel are properly trained, qualified, and comply with regulatory training and/or certifications required.

· Assist in the development and compliance of the operational budgets, itineraries, and schedules.

· Supervise the maintenance, repairs, modifications, and refurbishment projects of the vessels in a time sensitive and cost-effective manner.

· Inspect any vessel damage, product spill, and personnel injuries.

· Ensure all company and authorized personnel are informed of the assigned tasks and that all needed paperwork is completed accurately.

· Assist on the supervision of the crew’s management development, as well as all licensed and unlicensed personnel.

· Inspect all vessels and equipment to ensure seaworthy conditions, arrange maintenance, and coordinate repairs needed to correct any found deficiencies. Must be able to travel to vessels locations.

· Analyze needed repairs and make recommendations to upper management.

· Supervise contractors and shipyards during maintenance or repair projects.

· Coordinate assistance tugs, pilots, and crew care as needed.

· Provide technical expertise for specialized jobs in the field.

· Analyze potential problems and develop new systems to be implemented for better outcomes.

· Maintain an up-to-date physical file in company’s main office that includes, but it is not limited to, documents like personnel information, forms, inspections, contracts, deck logbooks, etc.

· Maintain the Vessel Security Plan (VSP) up to date.

· Promote a respectful and safe culture in all the vessels.

· Additional duties or tasks might be necessary upon request.
