The Supply Chain Buyer is responsible to estimate material demand based on historical demand and/or Sales forecasted demand. manage supply availability/lead time, existing inventory levels, and customer sourcing needs. Manages established contracts ensuring pricing, availability, and terms of the agreement are met. Manages assigned product categories, and oversees inventory, reduces aged inventory levels, and minimizes SKU count. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Works with Sales to obtain customer forecast. Reviews historical demand and couples it with forecast to determine appropriate needs.
  • Monitors and reports any supply interruptions impact to organization.
  • Ensures contract compliance and management of buying.
  • Places orders, reviews confirmations, and arranges transportation to meet the demand.
  • Actively works order confirmations, price discrepancies, and delivery timelines.
  • Responsible for working with vendors and sales team to determine product availability and appropriate replenishment strategies to meet the demands and needs of customers.
  • Support warehouse function by utilizing buying/ingredient deliver schedules to reduce warehouse space constraints and smooth out truck delivers to not overwhelm the warehouse team.
  • Ensures timely delivery of goods and monitors performance of vendors.
  • Communicates effectively with peers and department stakeholders on plans and schedules.
  • Experience in supporting strategies, timelines, and financial targets.
  • Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with manufactures and distributors.
  • Negotiates with vendors to secure pricing and eliminate additional costs.
  • Adheres to all safety guidelines Standards of performance (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or 2 or more years relevant experience preferred.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office (strong Excel Skills) and database input.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management.
  • Ability to develop effective and appropriate formal communications, including plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates a critical mindset toward appropriately questioning and analyzing alternatives to meet customer strategies.
  • Self-motivated desire to improve processes within scope of responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates solid business acumen in analytics.


Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Frequently required to stand; walk; use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; and to talk; or hear. Ability to lift and/ or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color and depth vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. Exposure to allergens such as Soy, Wheat, Tree Nuts, Milk/Dairy, eggs etc.
