Building & Grounds Superintendent - Job at Virginia Greensville Correctional Ctr
Plans and directs full range of institutional building and grounds and maintenance programs, directs the work of subordinate supervisors, foreman and inmate workers. Manages all functions of the Building and Grounds Department, to include budget management, design, and implementation of major projects, repairs and replacement requirements and water usage management. Manages the preventive maintenance program and the ITMS work order system.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s License. Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to plan maintenance projects, to estimate costs, and to inspect trades work. Demonstrated ability to work from plans, for alterations and repair. Extensive knowledge in managing a large facility in the area of buildings and grounds maintenance, construction and repairs. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and coordinate the activities of skilled trades’ workers. Extensive knowledge of buildings and grounds maintenance, building construction and renovation. Extensive knowledge of principles, methods, and equipment relating to plumbing, carpentry, electricity, electronics, vehicle repairs, and heating and cooling (HVAC) requirements and the ability to apply that knowledge.
Preferred: Prefer the ability to read blueprints. Prefer experience in utilizing computerized inventory systems and Microsoft Office. Prefer experience managing an annual budget.
