Confluent Health and Emory University are now accepting applicants for one (1) Athletic Trainer. Emory University is a NCAA Division III, private university located in Atlanta, GA. Employment, salary and full-benefits for this position will be through Confluent Health.

- The successful applicant will report directly to the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Salary starts at $50,500 or commensurate with experience and specialty certifications.

The Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting the Head Athletic Trainer with coordination and delivery of high quality sports medicine services to all intercollegiate student-athletes at Emory University. The athletic trainer must perform many of the outlined tasks with minimal or no supervision in the clinical setting. Problems encountered are of a moderate to higher level of complexity and a considerable amount of creativity, resourcefulness, and innovation are utilized in problem solving.
Athletic Trainers work in collaboration with one another and with Team Physicians with the coordination and delivery of sports medicine services and education to all intercollegiate student-athletes at Emory University. Athletic trainers must perform many tasks with minimal or no supervision in the clinical setting. These individual are responsible for the education to student-athletes in regards to injury prevention, rehabilitation of injuries, nutrition and psychological support. In addition, the athletic trainers have a collaborative program with University Health Services to provide education, screening, monitoring and rehabilitation in the area of concussion management for all students at Emory University. The athletic trainers are responsible for the health and safety education initiatives for department personnel including coaches, staff, and student-athletes. These initiatives include but are not limited to the teaching of first aid and CPR certification courses.
Responsibilities:- Responsible for the assisting in the administration of all aspects of injury/illness prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, rehabilitation, and health care education and counseling for student athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program. This includes a primary sport(s) assignment, in addition will assist with all sports in collaborative team approach. This will include some nights, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel as necessary with selected intercollegiate teams.
- Documentation of and maintaining accurate injury records.
- Organization of rehabilitation and injury prevention programs.
- Cooperation and collaboration with strength and conditioning staff.
- Coordination and oversight of all necessary medical referrals.
- Collaboration with team physicians, Emory Student Health Services and other allied health-care professional providers.
- Direct communication with coaches, parents, student-athletes, athletic administration and other stakeholders when appropriate.
- Organize and participate in pre-participation physical examinations as directed by team physicians.
- Education of student-athletes with respect to injury prevention, nutrition and psychological support in dealing with injuries.
- Organize and participate in student-athlete, coaches, and departmental staff annual education initiatives.
- Education of coaches and staff regarding anticipated response and management of potential injuries/illnesses.
- Athletic Training Room coverage. This will include being present in the Athletic Training Room during scheduled open hours to see walk-in athletes.
- Participate in initiatives that align with the mission of Emory University and Emory Healthcare.
- Perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned and commensurate with the normal activities related to collegiate varsity sport athletic training service.
- Promote and support the strategic plan of the Department of Athletics.
- Administratively support the Sports Medicine department operations.
- Ensure all assigned tasks complies with university, University Athletic Association (UAA), and NCAA rules and best practice standards.
- Abides by all university, UAA, and NCAA policies and procedures.
- Attends and participates in department and Campus Life meetings and events as required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Current NATABOC certification and eligibility for licensure in the state of Georgia
- Ability to work effectively and independently with students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members.
- Successful candidates will possess strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Two years of athletic training experience is preferred.
