Job Summary:

The Associate Director, Affinity Marketing manages external and internal partnerships and develops programs for United Way’s giving communities: Emerging Leaders 365 (young professionals donating at the $365 level), Change Makers (donors at the $1,200 – $10,000 level) and Champions (donors at the $10,000+ level). This position builds on the success of these giving communities to expand our audience with online and offline strategies to and introduce United Way to new supporters and donors. The position connects United Way’s donors and supporters with the organization’s mission as we work toward a racially just community where all people have homes, students graduate, and families are financially stable.

The annual salary range is $92,276 – $94,326 DOE. This position is open until filled.

Essential Duties:

· Carries responsibility for affinity group communication and program development in coordination with the Director of Marketing.

· Manages the Marketing Program Manager and supports efforts of the cross-functional Emerging Leaders 365 team to grow the program and increase engagement.

· Staffs the Change Makers committee and supports the Marketing Program Manager in staffing the Emerging Leaders 365 committee.

· Leads affinity group outreach and engagement at key companies such as Microsoft and Amazon and coordinates with Development Team leads to build and staff workplace Live United committees.

· Establishes and cultivates community partnerships that introduce United Way to new audiences. Builds on existing key partnerships (i.e. YPOS, New Tech Seattle, YPN, Gates Foundation) and discovers new opportunities to bring in new donors and supporters.

· Works with the Corporate Team to builds partnerships that elevate perks for affinity groups to incentivize giving and steward existing donors.

· Leverages organization-wide signature events to grow and steward the three affinity groups.

· Expands upon volunteer connections (i.e. affinity group committees and Board members) to grow the program.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The position supervises the Marketing Program Manager and occasionally supervises summer interns and part-time, temporary workers during peak event periods.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Demonstrated clear understanding of social and racial justice and equity, with a proven commitment to apply racial and economic justice lenses in both personal and workplace contexts.

· Lived experience and/or demonstrated professional skills working within a diverse work environment.

· Demonstrated strong strategic and organizational skills.

· Proven project management skills.

· Demonstrated experience working with high level volunteers and building community.

· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

· Proven team player and collaborator.

· Demonstrated effective message creation and strong communication skills (written, verbal and graphic form) and demonstrated ability to communicate United Way’s brand image and value.

· Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field. Five years’ experience in marketing, volunteer management and event planning. At least two years’ supervisory and volunteer management experience preferred.

Job Conditions:

The position works under frequent time requirements/constraints and performs extensive close work using a computer. Work requires a flexible work schedule and may require shift extensions or weekend work to meet specific work objectives. United Way of King County operates a hybrid workplace with most employees working schedules that combine remote and on-site components. A record of full COVID-19 vaccination is required for this role.
