Assistant Director, Donor Communications and Compliance Job at BGSU Main Campus
The Assistant Director, Donor Communications and Compliance leads stewardship communication efforts with vibrant and captivating content that engages and inspires BGSU donors. This includes but is not limited to personalized impact reporting for high-level donors; current-use and endowed fund stewardship reporting; fund agreement document development; impact reporting for broad-based and university-wide impact reporting (annual fund, reunion, signature programs); and acknowledgements. This position also serves as a stewardship liaison to other departments, university colleges and units.
- Ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgement of all gifts made to the BGSU Foundation, Inc.
- Collaborate with fundraising staff to prepare and route fund agreements
- Develop and maintain content library of photos, student profiles, quotes and graphics for impact reports, and special communications geared toward strategic priorities
- Respond to giving-related inquiries from donors and other internal and external constituents
- Prepare and distribute BGSU Foundation fund reports and other impact and use information for the purpose of stewarding the Foundation’s donors
- Collaborate with Advancement staff on communications and collateral for donor stewardship and cultivations activities, site visits and special events
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or a related field preferred. Degree must be conferred at the time of application.
The following experience is required:
- 3 years of experience in donor relations/stewardship/alumni relations, volunteer/non-profit/ program management, direct fundraising, marketing/public relations, customer service or related experience required.
Salary
Full-time, Administrative staff position available. Administrative Pay Grade 357. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefits package available.

- Possess excellent organization skills and meticulous attention to detail to produce high-quality, error-free work on a deadline while managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
- Ability to gather donor impact information using interviews, database research, and internal contacts, then organize information for effective presentation in reports, publications, websites, and other media
- Ability to understand and interpret sensitive and confidential data
- Ability to learn subject-specific terminology for use in developing written materials
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Familiarity with appropriate business software applications Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint; Adobe Photoshop
- Experience writing in higher education, for marketing or advertising copy, or in fundraising/donor relations
- Knowledge of Donor Relations and Stewardship communications in higher education and/or fundraising
- Experience with RE NXT, Awards Management reporting tools or equivalent
