Generator Technician Apprenticeship Program:
The Apprenticeship Program is a five-month training program. Each month the candidate will ride and work with an advanced level technician for two to four weeks of the month. One to two weeks per month (two weeks in the first and fourth months), there will be training classes held in Ball Ground, Georgia (travel expenses paid by the Company). There will be reading assignments and homework to coincide with the topics covered at each monthly class. At the conclusion of each class, Apprentices will have the opportunity to demonstrate they have learned through written and “hands on” troubleshooting evaluations.
Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship Program and demonstration of your skills in the field, you will be considered a Preventive Maintenance Generator Technician for PowerSecure Service.

The Apprentice pay range is $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, based on any previous relevant experience and job location. A pay increase will be considered following the successful completion of the program and proficient demonstration of required skills.

Career Path Options: The Apprenticeship program provides you the foundational knowledge, skills and abilities to grow your career as a Generator Field Service Technician. They have the opportunity to:
- Repair and service all makes and models of Generator Sets
- Repair and troubleshoot engines such as Volvo, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, John Deere and MTU
- Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches and switchgear
- Inspect, repair, service and start-up load bank test requirements on equipment
- Provide on call services as required
- Deliver exceptional customer service
Requirements
- Must be highly motivated to learn and progress in a Generator Field Technician Career.
- Some mechanical, automotive, electrical or control experience required.
- Technical School or Military training a plus.
- Travel overnight at least 25% of the time
- Must be able to pass DOT physical, pre-employment skills, background, drug screen and driving assessments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, Outlook email/calendars.
- Strong written and verbal English skills required.
- Provide your own transportation while in the apprentice program.
Physical Demands
- Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work. Physical Activity: 85% physical activity required on customer site working with equipment, 15% form completion, email, other administrative tasks and completing technical support activities by way of telephone and computer communication.
- May involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-75 pounds).
- Frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands, to touch, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms.
- Combination of climbing and balancing to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to Protective Glasses, Protective Gloves, and Protective Footwear as required.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to read computer screens, paper documents, equipment.
- Ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals.
- Up to 10 consecutive hours driving heavy duty truck.
- May be required to work long and unpredictable hours.
- Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally and hear others speaking.
