First Call Medical Solutions is currently seeking Adjunct Nursing Faculty/Instructors for permanent placement with our client, a nationwide College system located in Hampton, VA! Compensation:
(FT Faculty, 32-hour work week, salary 85K; and, Adjunct Faculty, contracted 3K per didactic course and hourly clinical/lab rates of $40 BSN, $45 MSN and $50 DNP/PhD in Nursing credentialed).
Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) is acceptable for teaching didactic courses in the ADN program. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is acceptable for teaching didactic, clinical and laboratory classes in the PN program, and clinical and laboratory classes in the ADN program. An MSN is the preferred educational requirement as this provides the greatest flexibility allowing for the ability to teach all types of classes within either program.
- The candidate should be available days, evenings, nights, and weekends based on the needs of the College. Additionally, the candidate shall have a minimum of two years direct client care experience as a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction with the focus on teaching and learning to help assure students in each class successfully meet all course outcomes and/or clinical objectives.
- Plan for and facilitate instruction consistent with the Community of Inquiry Framework and the Seven Principles for Good Practice.
- Assure appropriate course-level rigor in class instruction and assessment methodologies consistent with the College’s Rigor Standards Framework through the development, integration, and delivery of course content planning documents including but not limited to supplemental syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments.
- Develop a supplemental syllabus that meets all the BON requirements within the state.
- Design and implement teaching strategies that will assist a nursing student to meet the course objectives or outcomes.
- Direct and supervise the activities of a teaching assistant, if utilized
- Evaluate each nursing student's achievement and progress with input from the teaching assistant or preceptor, if utilized.
- Integrate and include instruction and assessment of each of the College’s four lifelong learning competencies in each course taught.
- Establish and maintain a classroom climate consistent with the College values, education promise, and personalized promise.
- Plan student’s clinical experience based on course objectives and student learning needs and evaluate the student’s experience, performance, and progress in meeting specific course objectives or course outcomes.
- Supervise student practice in the delivery of nursing care to an individual or group of individuals by providing guidance, direction, and support.
- Communicate clinical objectives or outcomes to student, teaching assistant or preceptor, if utilized and the staff at the clinical site.
- Provide for orientation of each student to the clinical site, including introduction to staff.
- Make assignments, in conjunction with the teaching assistant or preceptor, if utilized, for the student’s experience, consistent with the specific objectives or outcomes of the course. Assign observational experience as appropriate to meet course objective
- Maintain one Skills Assistance contact hour per week for every five instructional hours assigned to support the classroom’s teaching and learning process by publishing a skills assistance schedule each term and actively promoting (and assigning when necessary) student attendance.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Maintain a current knowledge of teaching discipline/field of study as evidenced by active participation in professional organizations, maintenance of current scholarly collection of resources (through virtual library), and engagement in active, on-going dialogue with peer faculty.
- Fulfill administrative duties.
- Meet requirements for creation, distribution, and retention and/or submission of beginning- and end-of-term paperwork.
- Maintain one administrative contact hour per week for every five instructional contact hours assigned.
- Adhere to, uphold, and comply with all established operational policies and procedures as described in operating documentation (Official Catalog, Faculty Guide, Associate Guide).
- Participate in curriculum monitoring and development process by providing feedback on curriculum to PDs and/or System-level curriculum team.
- Attend required College functions including graduation and special activities.
- Participate in campus-wide initiatives in support of recruitment, retention, and graduation goal attainment including, but not limited to, monitoring, adjusting (when needed), and assessing classroom and program retention/graduation, and meeting with program advisors on a regular basis to discuss student performance and academic concerns.
- Nursing program faculty only:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the philosophy and objectives of the nursing program.
- Evaluate and provide feedback on student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies within the framework of BSC.
- Participate in academic advisement and counseling of students.
- Provide opportunities for student and graduate evaluation of curriculum and teaching and program effectiveness.
