Soka University of America (SUA) seeks a part-time instructor to teach music composition courses to undergraduate non-majors in the Creative Arts Program, beginning in Fall Semester 2023.

The successful candidate will teach entry-level music composition courses to include Introduction to Music Composition, Introduction to Songwriting, and/or related topics in their field of expertise. Initially, this will involve one or possibly two courses per semester.

Candidates should demonstrate responsiveness toward and understanding of diverse student backgrounds, especially with regard to socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, culture, ability/disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity and have a willingness to facilitate the university’s mission to develop global citizens.

SUA aims to foster rewarding intellectual relationships among faculty and between faculty and students through collaboration and mentoring. An appreciation of the centrality of peace, global citizenship, freedom, and human rights is the founding impetus for the university and its mission.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a doctorate-level degree in music composition or related fields and have demonstrated success teaching composition at the college or university level. Experience teaching Mac-based computer music will be a plus.

Salary: Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for Adjunct Instructors is $5,440.50 - $7,200.00 per course.
