The Accounting Department is seeking a senior level accountant to be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and management of the agencies accounting systems to include managing complex activities associated with processes and responsible for reconciliations and assisting with monthly and annual audits.
Responsibilities:
- Interprets financial information and consults with management its use.
- Analyze financial information and summarizing financial status
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivables
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Monitors cash balances.
- Ensures ledgers accurately reflect the Agency’s financial position and performance.
- Review agency budgets for optimum financial effectiveness.
- Reviews and prepares bank reconciliations.
- Produces various monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Reviews and maintains general ledger and prepares general journals.
- Reviews batch controls for completeness and accuracy.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Three to five years of progressive professional experience in accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, @functions, etc.). Knowledge of Microsoft Access a plus
- Ability to make sound accounting decisions within established guidelines
- Knowledge of accounting and auditing practices and principles, including fund accounting
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations, including the single Audit Act (OMB Circular A—133
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Able to communicate with professionals at all levels
- Able to work on multiple project with accuracy and efficiency
- Non-Profit industry experience preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,240.00 - $63,024.00 per year
