Water Services Technician Job at City of Phoenix
The City of Phoenix Water Services Department, one of the nation’s largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix.
Employees who work in this position will perform a variety of field work including semi-skilled maintenance, preventative maintenance tasks, meter reading, and meter repair in the Water Services Department, Water Meter Division. Assignments will vary based on operational needs, including working as a route person or a rover backing assigned routes. Water Services Technicians work under the general supervision of a Water Customer Services Supervisor I or II.
SALARY
$18.00 (minimum) - $23.46 (maximum) hourly / $37,440.00 - $48,797.00 annually. Candidates may be hired up to $48,797.00 depending upon qualifications.

Additionally, effective 10/1/2022, Paid Parental Leave is now offered to eligible employees up to 480 hours (12 weeks) of paid leave for the birth, adoption or foster care placement of a child during a 12-month period.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- No experience or training requirement for this entry level position.
- All positions in this classification require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
- Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience reading and interpreting city geography and street addresses.
- Experience entering data into a work order management system.
- Experience with basic plumbing and/or sprinkler system repair and maintenance.
- Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
- Working irregular hours may be required.
- Requires working around insects, reptiles, and animals.
- Requires working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust.
