Summary
This position is responsible for leading the clinical supply chain agenda and managing all elements of HealthTrust’s relationship with Tenet Health. This position will collaborate with Tenet supply chain and clinical leadership to establish the strategic expense agenda for clinical resource management and the ongoing supply expense plan. Each year, the VP will work with Tenet Supply Chain and Financial leadership to develop an annual supply expense management plan. VP will coordinate and manage effort of service line directors who are primarily responsible for the review and optimization of HealthTrust contracts, implementation of new HealthTrust and Tenet custom contracts, identification of standardization and utilization opportunities, and where applicable, the negotiation of custom contracts. VP will establish a regular reporting cadence to Tenet and GPO leadership to ensure that all elements of the supply expense management plan are being accomplished. In addition to supply expense management, implementation, and account management, VP will be able to establish, execute and manage any consulting or outsourced engagements required to support Tenet’s supply chain operational agenda. This individual is responsible for building strategic relationships and ongoing alliances with corporate and hospital leadership, physicians, and supply chain leaders as it relates to successfully implementing a clinically integrated supply chain.
Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to)
Leadership
- Provides leadership to guide all elements of Tenet / HealthTrust relationship.
- Provides leadership in the area of expense management to contribute to Tenet’s overall strategic plan to improve supply and pharmacy expenses in a variety of departments.
- Provides leadership to service line directors in the area of expense management to contribute to Tenet’s overall supply expense management plan.
- Works with service line directors, clinical resource directors, and Tenet supply chain leadership to establish and ensure ongoing effectiveness of facility value analysis teams (CiVAT).
Develops, implements and coordinates within Tenet system and facilities:
- A system approach to cost savings opportunities
- Policies and procedures related to expense management
- Product and drug standardization and utilization
- Participates in development and optimization of facility Value Analysis Teams to HealthTrust’s best practices
- Provide leadership to account management and implementation resources to ensure customer relationship is being preserved at highest level.
- Assimilates information from variety of sources, able to analyze data and make strategic recommendations and executes a course of action for all elements of supply expense management and supply chain operations.
Customer Service
- Responsible for managing customer expectations and delivering cost savings according to

- Utilizing customer participation in the process to achieve goals and objectives
Direct account management functions specific to Tenet relationship.
- Interacts and develops relationships with internal and external stakeholders to better understand needs and challenges, which may include clinicians, physicians, supply chain, hospital, and system leadership.
- Provides educational opportunities to customers to understand the expense management program.
- Builds and maintains strong, effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders at Tenet corporate and facility services lines, HealthTrust, Supply Chain, and the organization’s leadership and Regional Value Analysis Teams.
Financial
- Establishes and meets supply expense savings goals for customers as requested.
- Collaborates with organizations to track and analyze financial data which may include but is not limited to supply expense savings.
- Provides cost saving enhancement strategies to support supply expense management plan through direction to service lines working with customers, representatives, and HealthTrust contracting teams.
- Develops standardized documents, processes, and calculations for use by the team to quantify savings solutions.
Project Management
- Directs multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment that includes:
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and execute
- The ability to focus and execute exceptional time management
- Demonstrates the ability to develop a project plan for major and complex projects.
- Develops milestones for projects to determine when outcomes are achieved, that includes facilitating customer teams that lead to building consensus and contract implementation.
- Assigns goals to direct reports as appropriate and monitors goal achievement.
General Knowledge/Competencies
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare and/or Supply Chain/Materials Management.
- Provides effective communication which includes verbal, listening, writing, and presentation skills to a variety of stakeholders from executives to staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a professional, multi-disciplinary, matrix-reporting team as a group leader, facilitator, and/or participant.
- Demonstrates a track record of success.
- Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills, which include understanding issues, ability to simplify and process complex issues, and understanding the difference between critical details and unimportant facts.

Education
- A Bachelor's Degree is required. Graduate Degree is highly preferred at the Master’s level, such as MSN, MHA, MS, Pharmacy, or Pharm D.
Experience
- A minimum of 15 years of hospital management experience in either an administrative, financial, or supply chain/materials management leadership capacity.
- Multi-facility or system leadership experience highly preferred. Demonstrated, successful project management experience with coordination and measurement of project deliverables. Advance computer skills with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Software skills with data warehouse and/or Micro Strategies highly preferred.
