As the VP Footwear you will build and lead the Wilson footwear category, from driving the footwear strategy development, leading design and development, identifying market needs, building a financial blueprint, a supply chain strategy and building on our product excellence. You will evolve the footwear roadmap through your deep understanding of the footwear market, the Wilson brand, and our target consumers. Your leadership and industry expertise will not only influence the product, positioning and messaging, but it will also help expand and build a robust and talented footwear team.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Own the footwear strategic business plan, with input from your product, commercial, merchandising, supply chain and brand peers.- Oversee the successful expansion and execution of the Wilson footwear category that deliver on our brand vision in addition to sales, gross margin and inventory productivity goals across all countries and channels.
- Develop, lead, and coach a team of footwear specific leads, across product design, development and merchandising to create and implement a compelling world class global footwear strategy across all channels.
- Lead the development of the footwear channel strategy and support chancel leaders (D2C and wholesale) in execution.
- Oversee the execution of footwear design in line with seasonal direction provided by the VP of sportswear design.
- In collaboration with sport product teams, identify, coordinate and execute sport specific footwear strategies.
- Lead with passion and vision for the category, to engender followership with various functional team members across the organization to create understanding, alignment and momentum towards executing footwear-specific goals.
- Define, coordinate and lead the execution of all footwear-related projects and streams of work in all their dimensions and in their complexities – i.e. strategic, commercial, human, financial, legal, and technical.
- Frame, align, and manage the financial budget of the footwear category.
- Outline a footwear-specific strategic pathway toward Wilson sustainability objectives.
- Research, observe, and contextualize the global footwear market landscape as it relates to Wilson hardgoods, softgoods, pricing, position, and brand to frame strategic decision-making.
- Create an open and inclusive environment that recognizes team members based on the strength of their efforts, deliverables and behaviors.
- Work in close partnership with many teams, including all Wilson product categories, brand, creative, finance, omni-channel and supply chain teams to realize the strategy and plan.
What We're Looking For :
This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Business Process Management, Industrial/Product Design or related field plus a minimum of 5 years of senior leadership in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience working within the footwear industry. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other qualifications include:
Experience as footwear design expert, with a good understanding of the footwear industry and a proven ability to make strategic decisions- Demonstrated team player and the ability to effectively work in a dynamic work environment with high inter-dependencies between teams, cross-cultural colleagues, and diverse and innovative thinking
- Possesses a high degree of footwear product acumen, strong business acuity and a proven ability to make strategic decisions
- Owns a great eye for product, with a keen understanding of technical knowledge and style sensibility
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of financial and retail metrics
- Experienced in creating and executing a strategy and vision, while bringing key stakeholders and team members along in the process
- Proven ability to lead and influence multiple stakeholders across the organization, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- Demonstrated initiative, agility, and commitment, while balancing autonomy and collaboration
- Highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity, and thrive in a fast paced, diverse, ever evolving and values led environment
