ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Transitional Housing Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring day-to-day work flow across SPY’s transitional housing sites. They will be responsible for overseeing services and operations of the transitional programs operating out of different sites in Mar Vista, Inglewood, and Westwood. They will supervise a dynamic team of resident coordinators and case managers. They will ensure the sites and programs are in compliance, maintain quality assurance, and outcomes. They will directly supervise SPY’s transitional housing programs Roots to Grow and The Nest Family Housing. Roots to Grow is a transitional housing program operated in partnership with Venice Community Housing. Our two sites can house up to 20 transitional age youth (TAY; ages 18-24). The Nest Family Housing program provides wraparound services and housing to TAY pregnant and parenting families out of 2 sites.
The Transitional Housing Supervisor will also be responsible for managing and administering site inspections and program audits, including ensuring the health and safety of individuals onsite. They will build relationships with community agencies to increase access to resources and partner collaboration.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Develop policies, procedures, and any necessary program documents needed in alignment with the contract
- and scope of required services
- Provide high quality trauma informed services for youth and families
- Develop and implement programs specialized for pregnant and parenting youth
- Ensure compliance and quality assurance in accordance with partnership agreements, contracts, and other
- requirements
- Manage program budgets and adhere to financial guidelines and funding requirements; tracking and
- monitoring program expenses regularly
- Ensure program outcomes are being achieved in accordance with program timelines
- Oversee daily site operations and program activities
- Support team to organize and facilitate events, workshops, and activities
- Provide trauma informed supervision and culturally responsive leadership to teams
- Manage and monitor data entry and youth files; ensure HMIS and internal data systems are accurate and
- updated
- Complete required reports as assigned
- Collaborate interdepartmentally and across SPY’s programs
- Attend all assigned internal and external meetings
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of the organization
Requirements
SKILLS YOU’LL NEED:
- Supervisory experience with strong skills in cultural humility, coaching, and team-building
- Expertise in child development and working with families and parenting youth strongly preferred
- Effective communicator with the ability to motivate teams and drive the work forward
- Strong standard of ethics and professionalism
- Highly organized and strong management skills
- Effective and timely problem solving skills
- Ability to work with people of diverse races, ethnicities, and sexual orientations in a multicultural
- environment
- Ability to work collaboratively in community settings and work independently
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook), and Google Drive

- Must have reliable transportation, valid California driver’s license, and proof of current insurance
BACKGROUND YOU’LL NEED:
- B.A. or B.S. in Psychology, Sociology, or related fields preferred
- Experience in management and supervising teams required
- Experience working with young families and/or pregnant youth
- Experience working with transitional age youth and/or homeless population in residential settings preferred
- Experience with budget and contract management preferred
- Experience using data management systems
- Experience implementing trauma informed care and harm reduction service models
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
Mandated Reporting Requirements: The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements: In an effort to stem the significant increase in COVID-19 positive tests as a result of the Delta variant, the State Health Officer has issued an order, which went into effect on August 9, 2021, requiring paid and unpaid workers of homeless services organizations to provide proof of vaccination and/or booster (if eligible for the booster shot) or participate in weekly COVID-19 testing if still not fully vaccinated. Driver Positions:

- Suspended or revoked license
- Three or more moving violations in the past 36 months
- Any violations, including drugs, alcohol, controlled substances, within the past 24 months
- Reckless driving, including hit and runs, within the past 24 months
- At fault accidents, resulting in fatality or serious injury, within the past 5 years
