Position Description
Traffic Center Technicians are located within District Traffic Operations Centers; operate in a 24/7 environment and facilitate the exchange of information required to maintain the safe and reliable operation of the state roadways while providing information to travelers; operate, control and conduct routine tests of traffic software, signs, and devices; record and track data; prepare reports; communicate with road crews to obtain and provide information.
Incumbent will Operate and control traffic management software, and Intelligent Traffic System devices (ITS). incumbent will Coordinate communication with crews, pertinent outside agency dispatchers, and the public following Traffic Operations Center (TOC) policy and procedure. Incumbent will Follow and execute TOC policy and procedures, emergency operational procedures, and plans to ensure continuity of the traffic center’s functions as required. Incumbent will Perform regular system diagnostics, facilitate system trouble shooting, identify system failures, and coordinate system repair. incumbent will Properly cleans and safely maintains work area as directed.
This Position requires working alternate shifts and outside traditional business hours. Subject to call-back. Requires work on nights, weekends, and/or holidays

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of traffic center experience which included monitoring and facilitating traffic flow, developing responses to problems based on established guidelines, developing regular reports, and dispatching appropriate personnel to incidents; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR one year of experience as a Traffic Center Technician I in Nevada State service.
