Job Summary: Under the leadership of the Testing Center Manager, the Testing Center Proctor supports all aspects of the testing center. The position is responsible for proctoring university and vendor exams, serving as an exam reader and scribe, preparing exams for return to faculty, and other tasks to ensure efficient operation of the center. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, especially during peak exam periods.

Work Performed:

Proctoring/Test Prep 85%

  • Assist with frontline operations using excellent customer service practices (e.g., greet and assist students, communicate effectively with faculty and office team members, etc.).
  • Schedule rooms and exams (ensure students utilizing software are assigned to the appropriate rooms).
  • Prepare exams to be administered (download from the system, etc.).
  • Convert exams into the appropriate alternative format.
  • Proctor exams (maintain exam security and ensure that only approved accommodations are permitted).
  • Monitor proctoring cameras.
  • Serve as exam scribes and readers.
  • Prepare completed exams for delivery to faculty.
  • Deliver exams to faculty in the appropriate manner.

Administration 15%

  • Interact with faculty regarding exam appointments and student questions about exams.
  • Assist with maintaining student lockers.
  • Assist with maintaining center voicemail and email.
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain knowledge and awareness of effective testing practices and relevant policies.

Preferred experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a testing center or similar facility is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organization and administrative skills.
  • Strong oral, written, and intercultural communication skills.
  • Ability to promptly resolve complex problems.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress, detail-oriented environment.
  • Fluency with electronic data management systems as well as facility with the Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel), Zoom, and WebEx.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and handle exams and the proctoring process with integrity.
  • Incorporates an anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens into work responsibilities and processes.
  • Experience working directly with and elevating the ideas of people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Work requires knowledge of basic mathematical, research and communications principles normally acquired through two years of postsecondary education.


Experience


Work generally requires two years of clerical or research experience to acquire skills in administrative or project research responsibilities as well as accepted office organization, communications and research practices. A bachelor's degree in a field of study directly related to the specific position may be substituted for the education and experience requirement.
