Position Title: Classroom Teachers (Infant, Toddler and Preschool)
Supervisor: Preschool Director
Status: Non-Exempt
Description: To create a flexible and nurturing early childhood classroom where each child can grow and develop socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively at their own pace.
Qualifications: Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Studies or a related field that is recognized and meets the requirements of School Readiness and NAEYC.
Must have or obtain First Aid, CPR, AED and Med certifications within 90 days of hire.
Program Duties:
· Assume responsibility for the health and safety of all children in the program.
· Plan and teach lesson plans using the Creative Curriculum
· Conduct daily observations and collect samples of work and document weekly in child’s individual portfolio.
· Evaluate each student and discuss concerns or progress with parents daily.
· Coordinate special events in connection with lesson plans.
· Implement YMCA Character Development program into weekly plans.
· Maintain standards of quality for our children and families.
· Attend staff orientation and staff meetings as required.
· Maintain a positive rapport with parents and communicate with them daily.

Make referrals for support services as needed.
· Providing meal service to the children including but not limited to ensuring that meals are served family style, meal count sheets are documented with each meal, and verifying CACFP reports for the director.
· Keep room clean, orderly, and attractive.
· Organize the classroom environment to support children’s socio-emotional development, promote learning through play and promote physical development.
· Use transition time as opportunities for learning.
· Promote learning in all areas of the classroom: Block Area; Dramatic Play, Manipulative Area; Literacy center, Computer, Sand and Water Area; Science Area, Art area and woodworking.
· Provide Child Development Director with weekly classroom checklists
· Must follow all policies and procedures regarding abuse and neglect mandated reporting.
Supervisory Duties:
Maintain staff - child ratios.
Keep accurate and clearly written records for monthly CACFP and School Readiness reports
Promote team orientated attitude. Supervise assistant teacher and aides and delegate responsibilities.
Inform Child Development Director of any significant issues related to staff, children or facility.
Promote professionalism and growth.
Advocate for children and families.
Be an exemplary role model.
Lead and train staff in carrying out daily center activities as well as special events.
All other duties as assigned by supervisor
Physical Requirements: Must have sufficient stamina, strength, and motor coordination to perform the following: Stand for sustained periods of time, walking, running, swimming, bending, and sitting on the floor and on child sized furniture to meet children’s needs and accomplish tasks. Occasionally lift and carry up to 30lbs., frequently bend, occasionally twist, frequently crouch and squat, occasionally crawl, occasionally push and pull, frequently climb stairs, occasionally reach and lift above shoulders, occasionally work on uneven ground and slippery surfaces, frequently kneel, frequently flex and rotate head and neck, use hands in repetitive motions such as frequently grasping and fine manipulation of both right and left hands, requires hearing a whispered voice at 3 feet, accurate vision, moderate exposure to infections.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
