The Arc Greater Hudson Valley, NY is currently hiring full-time Teacher Aides for our education programs serving children with developmental disabilities.

The Arc Greater Hudson Valley, NY is a not-for-profit agency created in January 2021 dedicated to providing supports to over 2,000 people with disabilities and their families in Sullivan, Orange, and Dutchess Counties. Formerly known as The Arc Sullivan-Orange Counties and The Arc of Dutchess, The Arc Greater Hudson Valley provides innovative, high-quality services including Residential Services, Clinical Services, Day Services, Family Support Services, Guardianship Services, Children's Education Services, Employment Services, Recreation, Respite and more.

A chapter of The Arc New York, our main offices are located at 162 East Broadway in Monticello, NY. Our Dutchess County offices, including the office for The Arc of Dutchess Foundation, are located at 84 Patrick Lane, Suite 130 Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.

Our dedicated team is still interviewing, hiring and conducting orientation, despite COVID-19. We are following all safety guidelines, providing Personal Protective Equipment to all staff, and sanitizing all locations thoroughly. We are currently conducting phone and/or virtual interviews.

Teacher aide/assistants needed to work with students aged 12-21 in a private school. The school supports children with Autism, development delays and behavioral management needs.

Locations: Middletown, NY

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am – 3:30pm, 35 hours/week

Teacher Aide Responsibilities:

• Maintain students in line of site at all times
• Provide assigned students with non-instructional supports as directed by the classroom teacher
• Accompany students throughout the day
• Act as a companion for students
• Provide assistance with student as indicated by their IEP’s and in accordance with instructions from the supervising teacher
• Assist students with personal hygiene with methods prescribed by the IEP
• Assist in lunch preparation
• Perform record keeping functions as assigned by the teacher
• Additional duties as assigned

Teacher Aide Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Bilingual (Spanish-English) A PLUS!
• Experience working with children with disabilities preferred
