Tasks for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
  • Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values.
  • Engineers SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
  • Installs new and rebuilds existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures.
  • Contributes and maintains system standards. Researches and recommends innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes; reviewing system and application logs; and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. ·
  • Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary. ·
  • Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary. Creates, changes, and deletes user accounts per request.
  • Coordinates and communicates with impacted constituencies.
  • Applies OS patches· and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrades administrative tools and utilities.
  • Configures and adds new services as necessary. Upgrades and configures system software. Maintains operational, configuration, or other procedures.
  • Performs periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required and maintains data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
8 to 10 years Linux/Unix Support – Cloud:
The ability to

  • Obtain and/or Maintain a DOD Secret clearance
  • Manage systems in a mixed Windows AD/Azure and Red Hat Linux environment highly desirable
  • Integrate Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems into Microsoft Active Directory and Azure environments
  • Migrate/Upgrade Red Hat Enterprise Linux Operating System environments
  • Use Nagios, Splunk and SolarWinds to monitor and manage systems

Usage of Operation/Cloud Tool Support:

  • Experience configuring and managing NetApp filer appliances and NetBackup (NBU) multi-tiered backup systems (running as Windows appliances)
  • IBM (now HCL) BigFix experience
  • Experience managing a small Mailman mailing list service
  • VMware/vSphere experience
  • AWS CloudWatch experience
  • Understanding of NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes and associated controls and procedures, especially deploying NIST SP 800-53 and other controls to Red Hat servers
  • Working knowledge of standard Microsoft productivity tools (Word, Excel, Visio) and developing system documentation as well as operating
  • Experience using Splunk and Nagios, analyze data and make use of the analysis

EDUCATION CONTRACT EQUIVALENT STATEMENT

  • BS/BA or 8 years equivalent work in the field
