As a Systems Engineer you will share responsibility and provide leadership for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of BearCom’s voice and collaboration systems and services across all the locations in US and Canada. In this role, you will be an integral part of the Projects and Integration team and provide IT technical leadership for this team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the enterprise voice environment, including the call control system, integrated solutions (jabber, unified messaging, call center and attendant console) and hardware (e.g. CUBE, IP phones and voice gateways) extended to over 40 of BearCom’s facilities.
- Administration, architecture, and security (setup, configuration and upgrade), as well as the design, scheduling, and execution of migration of newly acquired BearCom’s facilities to the enterprise voice environment from legacy infrastructure.
- Communication and interaction with the network team in the design and troubleshooting of LAN and WAN needs for voice.
- Responsible for on premise SIP-based collaboration solutions plus like Jabber and associated equipment (e.g. servers, video gateways and expressways) including setup, configuration, upgrade, and user’s need review.
- Responsible for providing technical knowledge to the IT management team on voice and collaboration systems’ security matters to ensure corporate assets and information are protected from external threats.
- Provide senior technical knowledge to the IMO and IT Project team on projects and integrations in general and specifically in the field of voice and collaboration.
- Support of complex voice / collaboration problems requiring troubleshooting malfunctions of voice and video hardware and software applications, and collaboration systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
- Provide technical leadership to lower level technicians including carrying out lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving technically related work problems.
- Must be able to interaction with other technical teams (e.g. network team, server team, client team, applications team, support team, etc.).
- 3-5 years of wireless telecommunications and RF engineering design and deployment experience, ideally with UMTS and LTE technologies.
- Proven work experience within the Technical Operations, Project Manager or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience with DAS or Small Cell Systems design, integration, and optimization experience, ideally working on solutions in high density environments such as stadiums and arenas
- Solid understanding of current wireless technologies, e.g. DMR, P25, UMTS and LTE, including link budgets, relevant switch parameters, time delay considerations, and KPIs.
- Understanding of RF propagation modeling tools.
- At least 2 years experience performing desktop design for indoor networks using iBwave propagation tool (iBwave certification required)
- Experience using outdoor RF modeling tools such as Planet or equivalent.
- Knowledge and experience with DAS vendors, e.g. CommScope, TE Connectivity, Corning Mobile Access, SOLiD
- Ability to compare different products technical specifications and determine most cost effective solution for the location
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, in writing and verbally.
- Ability to investigate and solve complex problems and implement related work improvements with cross functional team members.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
- Ability to use basic office applications: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook/Email
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- Good presentation, verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must be able to work under pressure and independently and be able to meet project deadlines for delivering quality solutions on time.
- Ability to work on cross-functional teams while designing and implementing solutions.
- Drug screenings and background checks are part of the hiring process which also include a Motor Vehicle Record check.
