SVP, Client Services - Google Job at Essence

Google has consolidated its media agency partnership into WPP's GroupM, building on the world class digital work that Essence has delivered for Google over the past 15 years. Now, we are seeking an SVP, Client Services responsible for the strategic and day-to-day client leadership and management of that relationship for a critically important North American product/service area. This role falls under Media Futures Group (MFG), a bespoke team that delivers on our commitment to Google for a more strategic, creative, and integrated media approach established to drive better business results.

As the SVP Client Partner, you are a game-changing talent that will infuse creativity and innovation into your team's work, inspiring and empowering them to deliver best-in-class product. You'll need to understand all our discipline areas and be able to advise on initiatives ranging from building marketing campaign strategy to digital media campaigns. We're looking for intelligent people who can passionately represent MFG, develop a talented team, ensure outstanding delivery to the client, and create opportunities for our relationship to blossom.


Client Leadership

  • Actively support the client's commercial objectives through their strategic marketing planning - you will be expected to contribute across all channels. Ensure our offering is appropriately positioned to best support the client's objectives.
  • Put yourself in the client's mindset: develop their business like it's your own. Use everything in your background and within MFG to advise, action and deliver amazing results.

Drive Business Growth

  • Identify opportunities for deepening the client relationship through innovation, the adoption of new marketing technologies and the use of a broader range of agency services. In particular, demonstrate creativity and innovation in recommendations/problem solving
  • Use your understanding of the broader agency landscape to contribute in all agency meetings

People Leadership

  • Mentor the internal team in their understanding of, and approach to, supporting the client's strategic marketing plan, and manage the day-to-day throughput of the team
  • Continually assess team capabilities and look to resolve any gaps through the personal development of existing resource or by leading recruitment efforts
  • Ensure that the Account Director(s) understand the client's strategic goals and support the Account Director(s) in staffing and structuring the account team appropriately.
  • Support the account team in the delivery of ongoing services where requested
  • Coach the Account Director(s) in their own development

About yourself / Requirements:

  • You're likely to have a proven track record as a Senior Account Director having successfully managed multiple full-service accounts
  • Experience managing large technology, telecom clients and/or fully integrated accounts
  • Critically, you have deep experience of digital media at serious scale, ideally across North America
  • You're armed with an active interest in how innovation and technology is driving change in digital marketing and a real desire to be a part of that innovation
  • You have outstanding analytical capabilities, quite possibly acquired in consulting or financial services
  • You have managed large, multidisciplinary team
  • Interpersonal, team building and relationship management skills
  • Analytical and comfortable presenting quantitative information to a client
  • Tact, diplomacy, maturity in relating and interacting with people at all levels
