The Survey Helper I will respond to the direction of the Survey Party Chief in accordance with the essential duties and responsibilities as listed in this job description.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities of the Survey Helper I (T-I) include but are not limited to the following:
Able to use a level rod and/or prism pole with prism.
Hold level or rod and/or prism pole with prism at designated points to help determine elevations and laying out stakes for mapmaking, construction, land, and other surveys.
Able to use plumb bob and/or tapes.
Able to set up and use back sites.
Able to use TxDOT codes.
Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, and/or other identifying marks.
Measure distance between survey points with tape (steel or cloth) or surveyor’s chain.
Mark measuring points with keel (marking crayon), paint sticks, scratches, chaining pins, and/or stakes.
Place stakes at designated points and drive them into the ground at the specified elevation.
Cut and clear brush and/or trees from the line of survey.
Perform occasional building and/or grounds maintenance.
Load crew truck with supplies on a daily basis.
Carry equipment and materials.
Care for and clean tools and equipment.
Keep truck clean.
Perform all other duties as directed by Survey Party Chief.
Perform all other tasks as directed and/or assigned for the good of the company.
Portray a professional appearance by wearing the appropriate clothing in the particular work environment.
Work on weekends and/or overtime during the week when needed.
