Basic Job Duties of the Surface Miner:

· Performs various general/manual labor duties on frequent basis such as shoveling, gathering and delivering supplies and materials; greasing conveyor belt rollers; tail pieces and head drives; assisting other miners in performing their duties, etc.

· Conducts pre-operational visual, physical and operational checks on machine.

· Transports machine from place to place safely and efficiently.

· Relieves other equipment operators on as needed basis.

· Performs routine maintenance, including cleaning, on a machine.

· Operates diesel powered, rubber-tired forklift to load supplies in outside mine yard into scoop bucket.

· Conducts all work activities in compliance with Federal and State coal mining laws and Company policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

· Ability to operate dozers, loaders, skid-steers, and excavators.

Skills/Training for the Surface Miner

· Driver's License with a clean MVR (Required)

· High school or equivalent

· Ability / willingness to work any shift assigned (days, graves – rotating Required)

· MSHA Certification (Preferred) We can train if necessary

· Ability to work well in a team environment.

· Work in a fast-paced, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.

· Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds on occasion.

· Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, non-DOT physical, and DMV check

· Must live within 60 miles of Hesperus Co. or be willing to relocate.

Physical Requirements for the Surface Miner

· Ability to work up to 12 hour shifts, both days or nights

· Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs.

· Ability to pass drug screen

· Ability to kneel, bend and stoop down for prolonged periods of time.

· Ability to work free of any medications, OTC drugs, or other supplements that impede concentrations, focus, judgment, observation, or otherwise perform all work tasks safely.

Schedule of the Surface Miner:

• Days – 7am – 7pm (Rotating)
• Night – 7pm – 7am (Rotating)

Compensation of the Surface Miner:

$24-$30 DOE

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
