Qualifications: As set by law _G.S.115c-276 and Board Policy
Terms of Employment: Salary and length of employment to be agreed upon with the Lee County Board of Education
Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated annually in accordance with Board Policy 7421.
Supervises: All personnel of the Lee County School District
Nature of Work:
The superintendent provides organizational and instructional leadership in accordance with all Board policies and state and federal regulation and statutes.
Essential Job Functions:
Supervises staff to accomplish the mission of the school district.- Works with the board to develop and apply board policies that define organizational expectations and develops procedures for implementing those policies.
- Establishes a comprehensive planning process that supports the development of a shared vision for the school district.
- Assesses factors affecting student achievement and facilitates changes to existing practices which support improvement of student achievement.
- Works with all individuals, groups, agencies, committees, and organizations to provide and maintain schools which are safe.
- Implements a comprehensive planning process that establishes budgetary priorities and effective allocation of resources to support the improvement of student achievement.
- Provides leadership in the development of the five year long range plan for student growth and achievement and long range capital improvement program.
- Oversees the development of personnel procedures that support the recruitment, employment, and retention of highly qualified certified and classified personnel.
- Plans and implements a systematic evaluation system including identification of strengths and weaknesses of employees, procedures for formal and informal feedback, and dismissal of ineffective employees.
- Establishes and maintains effective channels of communication between the schools and the community, building positive relationships with constituencies, and developing supportive coalitions.
- Works collaboratively with employees, families, and the broader community to acquire resources in response to the needs of the district’s diverse student population.
- Collaborates with school personnel and community to promote and support the mission and goals of the school district.
- Models personal integrity, and demonstrates high professional, moral, and ethical standards in all activities and interactions.
