POSITION PURPOSE

Store Lead provides superior customer service to donors and customers by contributing to effective store operations.


JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Through words and actions support Chattanooga Goodwill’s Mission, Vision, and Values; furthermore, actions and decisions will align with organizational guiding principles.
  • Maintain agency, employee, and participants confidentiality. Violation of confidentiality may be cause for termination.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provides customer service.
    • Available to assist customers cheerfully.
    • Greets and interacts with customers as they enter the store.
    • Ensures prompt and accurate customer checkout.
    • Handles price changes, refunds, and merchandise exchanges.
    • Resolves customer complaints and concerns.
    • Keeps store well stocked and clean, with merchandise appropriately displayed.
    • Wears professional attire (knows and complies with the Professional Attire Policy).
    • Knows and follows GIGCA’s customer service policies and procedures.
  • Provides donor service.
    • Gives prompt assistance to people wishing to donate.
    • Offers every donor a receipt.
    • Responds appropriately to questions regarding GIGCA’s policy on accepting items for donations.
  • Communicates merchandise shipment concerns to management.
  • Trains Sales Associates at the direction of management and reports progress by established procedure:

Sales Associate I positions:

    • Merchandising
    • Store layout
    • Customer Service
    • Housekeeping

Sales Associate II positions:

    • Cash Drawer Policy
    • POS procedures
  • Serves as key holder
    • Ensures that the store is opened and closed at scheduled times.
    • Follows all established procedures for opening and closing.
    • Safeguards store keys.
    • Ensures that cash wrap supplies are well always stocked.
    • Takes appropriate security precautions when opening and closing the store.
  • Operates POS system
    • Verifies cash drawer count.
    • May do managerial overrides and voids when management is not available.
    • Processes customer sales according to established procedures.
    • Understands and follows the Cash Drawer Policy.
    • Assists with daily reports and cash deposits.
  • Process items such as clothing, accessories, wares, and other merchandise.
    • Grades, sorts, hangs, tag salable items.
    • Gets all salable items to the sales floor in a timely manner.
    • Test electrical items.
    • Achieve production goals consistently.
  • Identifies and prepares all products to be shipped out of the store.
    • Merchandise for e-Business
    • Salvage
    • Overstock for warehouse storage
    • Outlet store
  • Trains new processors at the direction of management and reports progress by established procedure.
  • Provide assistance to donors.
    • Give prompt assistance to people wishing to donate.
    • Offer every donor a receipt.
    • Respond appropriately to questions regarding GIGCA’s policy on acceptable items for donation.
  • Manage daily operations of the production area.
    • Maintains supplies needed for processing.
    • Communicates shipment and transportation concerns to the Store Manager.
    • Assures that the area is kept clean and organized.
    • Trains Processor I and II positions at the direction of management.
  • Works assigned schedule.
    • On the floor and ready to work by scheduled starting time.
    • Understands and follows Attendance Policy.
  • Works at other store locations as needed.
    • GIGCA provides advance notice when possible.
    • Travel costs are reimbursed in accordance with GIGCA’s Travel Policy.
  • Complies with safety rules and performs duties in a safe manner.
    • Understands and complies with the Personal Protective Equipment Policy.
    • Understands and complies with all policies and procedures related to safety.
  • Complies with Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
    • Employee Purchase Policy
    • Cash Drawer Policy.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function.
Qualifications

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Two years sales experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Good written skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Works Assigned Schedule.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • GIGCA’s POS certification for Sales Associate II (Training provided)
  • Key holder certification (Training provided)
  • Forklift certification on all lifts required to complete the assigned work at required locations if applicable. (Training provided)
