The Lumistella Company (TLC) seeks a talented, detail-oriented Staff Accountant (II) to join our Finance team. The Staff Accountant’s primary responsibility is to oversee assigned general ledger accounts, support the AP and AR functions, assist in investigating issues and work on assigned major projects. He/she is a key part of the month end close process and assists the Senior Accountant and Controller/Director of Finance, by assisting in given tasks related to Accounting and Finance analytics activities. This position is required to interact with employees across the company to identify and correct accounting related issues. This position manages the accounting process that supports the sales and supply chain functions with the Controller/Director of Finance.

The ideal Staff Accountant will have -

  • Two (2) to five (5) years of similar experience in a Finance department;
  • Thorough understanding of Accounts Receivable / Payable principles; Intermediate knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and month end close;
  • Firm grasp on ERP systems and their functionality; Experience with Microsoft NAV Dynamics is preferred;
  • Exceptional computer skills in the operation and functioning of all programs used by the organization; Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Quality-oriented – demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention-to-detail;
  • Ability to think ahead and anticipate next steps with regard to irregularities;
  • Ability to assist and train others in the Finance department and the Company as a whole on the Company Accounting / Finance processes;
  • Ability to communicate exceptionally well throughout all levels of the organization and enforce Accounting / Finance policies and procedures while being forthright and precise in all dealings; Anticipate others’ needs and communicate effectively with people who have ranging skillsets and needs;
  • Ability to utilize active listening skills and follow directions (hear, process and understand); and
  • Demonstrates credibility, ethics, and integrity; Practices full disclosure in communicating with Manager and VP of Finance regarding finance-related matters; Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting required.

Essential Job functions include:

  • Accounts Payable: The Staff Accountant will assist the Senior Accountant with managing all aspects of overseas suppliers including PO tracking, invoicing, deposits, payments; Use supplier tracker to ensure all supplier invoices are created in Nav and paid in a timely manner; act as AP backup as needed; being directed by given tasks from Senior Accountant and Controller/Director of Finance.
  • Accounts Receivable: The Staff Accountant will assist in the creation of collection process SOPs and coordinate AR collections; Cooperate on preparation of Settlement Batch, Prepare Cash Receipts and Check Deposits daily/weekly; Apply customer payments, chargebacks, allowances to sales invoices; Assist in tasks for Corporate Credit Insurance policy including submitting past due reports as directed by the Controller/Director of Finance; Assist with New Customer Set-up and Finance weekly updates on collection status and any customers that might need escalation relating to AR collection; Prepare, apply and reconcile specified transactions; Work with Customer Service/Sales team to create credit memos and RMA’s and post them as they are released; Partner with Supply Chain and Sales to process chargebacks and customer allowances; Able to assist as AR backup when needed.
  • Fixed Assets: As a Staff Accountant, responsible for Fixed Assets set up (review Fixed Asset GL account in a weekly basis); Prepare Categories of Assets including other needed entries for proper internal and external audit; Prepare Depreciations expense; Prepare recurring amortization expense entry for prepayment account; Prepare Depreciation and Amortization schedules.
  • Taxes: Prepare, enter and reconcile Use Tax accruals for Amazon purchases on company Credit cards; Assist with c the Sales tax compliance and registration process.
  • Month End and Year End Close: Assist the Senior Accountant in preparation and posting of general accounting entries; Reconcile all major balance sheet accounts monthly including but not limited to payroll taxes, HSA, 401K, prepaid accounts, deferred rent, etc.; Assist with review of general ledger activity for completeness and accuracy; Assist Controller/Director of Finance by researching and documenting anomalies; Prepare bank reconciliations for all bank accounts; Make journal entries and system corrections as needed; Verify weekly/ daily intercompany account (due to / due from ) between SEP and The Lumistella Company to make sure they balance and if not prepare missing entries; Prepare purchase invoices and sales invoices between SEP and the Lumistella Company as directed by the Controller/Director of Finance.
  • Inventory / Supply Chain: The Staff Accountant will assist with tracking and recording inventory movement including running inventory adjustments daily.
  • Other: Download daily cash reports for all companies; Assist with pulling documentation for external and internal audits to ensure compliance; Complete all annual 1099s; Complete full cycle accounting for related entity; Audit W-9 monthly so all vendors are up to date on their W-9’s; perform Ad hoc projects and tasks as needed.
  • Protect company assets through the proper management of asset files and adherence to Company policy with regard to information security and management.
