Job Objectives:

Allied World US GAAP Finance team is looking for a self-motivated accountant with excellent interpersonal skills to join our Finance team. The team produces top-notch financial reporting deliverables in a timely manner on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. This position is key to accurately reporting underwriting results in our largest segment for use by management as well as for reporting to our parent company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities including journal entries and reconciliations of balance sheet and income statement accounts in accordance with US GAAP Standards and the AWAC accounting policies and procedures.

• Research and resolve reconciliation differences, including data research as well as communication with others in the organization to arrive at the best possible outcome.

• Maintain relevant records and files, keeping them current and in accordance with department procedures.

• Maintain compliance with established internal controls (including SOX)

• Consistently identify and pursue process improvement opportunities.

• Ad-hoc duties as required by the department manager.

Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

• 3-5 years’ experience with responsibilities in accounting and/or auditing.

• Strong information technology experience including familiarity with Microsoft Office products, general ledger packages, and reconciliation applications.

• Proven ability to meet strict reporting deadlines, ability to deal with time pressure and work overtime as needed to meet the reporting deadlines.

Preferred candidates will also have:

• CPA or candidate for CPA.

• Insurance accounting experience.

• Curiosity and flexibility to adapt and grow as responsibilities increase.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to effectively work within a team of 6.

• Excellent documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.

• SunGL, Blackline reconciliation product experience
