Outokumpu Stainless Steel is looking for a "Manager - Manufacturing Excellence" to join our Operations team in Calvert, Alabama

Purpose of the role: to lead the Manufacturing Excellence team that is responsible for driving, developing, and implementing continuous improvement processes. This includes systems to improve safety, quality, profitability, productivity, and employee engagement. This individual will lead the implementation of Lean Six Sigma & process improvement for the Americas Business Area.

With a growing portfolio of both austenitic and ferritic grades from our fully-integrated mill in Calvert, Alabama, and our stainless steel finishing mill in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and service center in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Outokumpu Americas is well-positioned to serve the expanding needs of the Americas’ market.

Main Responsibilities for the Role Are:

• Establish manufacturing excellence processes, structures, and strategies through training, communication and global alignment of programs,
• Collaborate and build strong interpersonal relationships with leadership and team members,
• Administer processes, resources, and systems to drive projects from conception to realization,
• Consult, coach, develop, and train all levels of the organization to excel in Continuous Improvement concepts and methodologies,
• Facilitate Key Performance Indicator (KPI) development, alignment, and management with leadership,
• Demonstrate flexibility in managing and delegating special projects as directed by leadership,
• Establish growth & development opportunities within the Manufacturing Excellence team,
• Enable and facilitate best practice sharing across sites and within Calvert and Mexinox.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline,
• Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (Required) or Master Black Belt (preferred)
• Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and general computer networking skills
• +5 years of continuous improvement experience or project management
• +3 years of project management experience
• Strong knowledge and experience in various aspects of operational excellence/manufacturing excellence
• Experience training and coaching Lean Six Sigma

Skills/Competences:

• Strong interpersonal skills / the ability to lead teams with limited direct authority,
• Ability to react quickly to changing requirements and new process developments,
• Ability to effectively develop and deliver training programs across all levels of the organization,
• Good analytical capabilities, Structured, Performance-oriented,
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
