Special Education Paraprofessional Job at The STAR School
The STAR School is a dynamic, award-winning Pre-K through 8th Grade Public Charter School that serves a primarily Native American population near Flagstaff and Leupp, AZ. STAR School is the first completely off-grid, solar and wind powered charter school in the country!
STAR is currently seeking an experienced paraprofessional to serve in one of our elementary classrooms beginning immediately.
The ideal candidate is experienced with or is interested in working with students that require special education services alongside the culturally responsive values and mission of the STAR School.
We seek someone who is patient and engaging, who is flexible and responsive to the needs of the student, who demonstrates strong organizational skills, and who is committed to developing respectful relationships with co-workers, students and their families.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to work with students that have an IEP
- Associates Degree or higher with 60 college credit hours or passing of the paraprofessional exam.
- Desired: Bilingual English/Navajo; Familiarity with Navajo Culture
- First Aid/CPR
- Current DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card and TB test will be required upon hire.
- Capability of physically assisting student with special needs as required
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certified or willing to become certified
- Willing and able to help student with Activities of Daily Living, such as using the bathroom
