Title: Shipping Clerk

Department: Transportation and Logistics

Status: Hourly (Non-exempt)

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

SUMMARY:

Function: Directs shipment of incoming and outgoing products and materials, including hazardous waste.

Scope: Responsible for verifying incoming shipments and monitors all products, raw materials, and supplies.

Required Education and Experience:

Position requires a High School Diploma or G.E.D.

6 months-1 year of previous shipping experience. Forklift experience is preferred.

DUTIES:

1. Preparing and maintaining a delivery schedule and communicating to all relevant departments.

2. Schedules all shipments with carriers in line with company and customer requirements.

3. Ensuring the integrity of all shipping documentation such as Bills of lading, Dangerous Goods Declaration,

Commercial invoices and packing lists for all domestic and international loads.

4. Timely preparation of all import documentation and TSCA authorization for all air and sea shipments globally.

5. Submits DEA Forms for Import / Export of List 1 chemicals.

6. Monitors shipments to delivery and notifies customer / related departments of pertaining issues.

7. Verification of all freight POD (Proof of Delivery).

8. Maintenance of DOI system data requirements and ensuring integrity at all times.

9. Maintenance of all shipping records.

10. Effectively schedules inbound materials for delivery.

11. Transport products and materials between buildings, inside warehouses, and loading and unloading trucks, using a forklift.

12. Maintain inventory control of raw materials, products, and supplies, including completing required documentation during inventory counts.

13. Document weekly inspections of the hazardous waste storage area and any containers that may reside within that area.

REQUIRED PERSONAL SKILLS:

1. Must be comfortable working with chemicals including, but not limited to, corrosives and organic solvents.

2. Ability to effectively communicate in English (both oral and written).

3. Knowledge of common warehouse practices.

4. Ability to perform basic mathematics.

5. Forklift operation certification preferred.

6. Able to operate shrink wrapping machine.

7. Have stable, verifiable work history with excellent attendance record.

8. Poises demonstrated attention to detail.

9. Ability to follow instructions in both verbal and written form.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

There is a slight potential for exposure to hazardous conditions and/or materials. Duties may involve strenuous activities such as walking, bending, lifting, and moving of material, as well as sitting for long periods of time. Must be capable of performing duties while wearing steel-toed shoes.
