The Lewis Group of Companies, one of the nation’s largest privately-owned real estate developers, is actively seeking an experienced candidate for the important role of Senior Vice President, Asset Management to join the Inland Empire (Upland, CA) corporate office.

Reporting to our Chief Executive Officer, you will have significant interaction with Company partners and other department leaders, overseeing all aspects of residential and non-residential asset management and operations of the Lewis portfolio of apartments, retail centers, office and industrial properties.

More about your Lewis portfolio: Lewis does not do third-party management; we own all our properties. Our current residential portfolio is over 11,000 units, with communities that range from 62 units to 1200+ units. These are conventional, market rate apartment communities located in the Inland Empire of Southern California and areas surrounding Sacramento, CA. Lewis has 9 million square feet of Retail space, 34 dynamic centers and over 20 new commercial projects underway. Lewis has 20 office and industrial sites at key locations throughout California and Nevada with several new projects currently in development.

Your core goals:

  • The biggest focus of your work will be in multifamily-a large and fast-growing element of the Lewis residential portfolio.
  • Together with the VP Residential Property Management, you will oversee and lead a dynamic, growing team of property management professionals, totaling over 350 employees in California.
  • You will lend your experience in increasing asset value and company profitability by executing a strategic people and business plan for each property, community and its staff.
  • Leading/mentoring a group of Vice Presidents who oversee teams of Lewis employees and a growing portfolio of residential and non-residential Lewis properties in California.

Your core responsibilities:

  • Utilizing your analytical ability and financial acumen to evaluate financial statements in an effort to maximize profitability.
  • Provide company wide support to ensure the success of the Lewis portfolio and to help make Lewis a leading property management company in the industry.
  • With your Vice Presidents, develop policies, processes and procedures and implement them throughout the Lewis portfolio.
  • Establish positive, productive relationships with all external business/construction/rehabilitation partners and agencies which support the communities in the Lewis portfolio.

Qualifications, Requirements & Education:

  • 15+ years of relevant executive-level leadership experience in asset management, with a focus on multifamily residential communities.
  • Experience with non-residential commercial real estate, including retail centers and office/industrial will only increase your consideration.
  • Strong academic background and undergraduate degree in business, finance, real estate or similar major from top tier university; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred
  • Thorough understanding of market risks, macro/micro-economic issues and tax implications applicable to residential/commercial real estate operations and development.
  • Quantitative and analytical skills to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong sense of emotional intelligence, personal motivation, accountability, and dedication to continuous improvement
  • Experience in effectively communicating with owners, partners, consultants and legal and risk management professionals
  • Ability to effectively manage, motivate and develop team members
