As a Family Medical Leave (FML) Manager, you will develop the knowledge and skills needed to conduct thorough investigations, make determinations regarding eligibility for our customers, provide ongoing leave administration, and communicate decisions and status updates. This is a fast-paced job where attention to detail counts. The ability to make and effectively communicate decisions within tight timeframes, while integrating knowledge of FML State Regulations, FMLA Regulations, customer contracts, New York Life and corporate compliance are critical for success.


Responsibilities:

  • Make claim / customer eligibility determinations and manage on-going claims for an assigned caseload of Family Medical Leaves, through capturing medical information, applying appropriate provisions, following legal guidelines, and leveraging expert resources.
  • Communicate with employees, employers, and various medical professionals to gather information regarding the application for, payment of, and ongoing management of Family Medical Leave benefits.
  • Conduct an evaluation of all absences, including a review of all medical information, and determine whether to approve or deny
  • Identify when additional information is required to make a decision on an absence request and gather the information
  • Meet all service & performance metrics and expectations
  • Adhere to all legal/compliance requirements.
  • Maintain Leave and absence information in the system, including comprehensive activity notes, correspondence, and payments.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. BA degree preferred.
  • Strong critical, analytical, and investigative skills; ability to gather information, analyze facts, and draw conclusions
  • Must have the ability to work with a sense of urgency and be a self-starter with a customer focus mindset
  • Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills
  • Prior FMLA or Disability Claims experience (preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities.
  • Must be technically savvy with the ability to toggle between multiple applications and/ or computer monitors simultaneously
  • Customer Focus


Technology Requirements:

  • Functioning broadband (cable/DSL) should meet the following minimum requirements 50mb download/20mb upload speed
  • Ability to hardwire into internet connection


This position can be offered as a full-time work from home position for candidates with appropriate experience.

Salary range:
$37,500-$57,500

Overtime eligible: Nonexempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
